Synopsis

A Flight Attendant reported that two DHC8-200's in their fleet have very poor air conditioning systems causing discomfort and unsafe conditions.

Narrative

This aircraft should not be on the line according to FAR. This airplane has no air circulation; little to no air at all comes out of the vents from row 4-9; progressively worse as you get to the back. Its reputation precedes it. I have flown in regional aircrafts in India that put our planes to shame. How our Company says that their first priority is safety and yet keeps this plane on the line is a mystery to me! This report should be reason alone to pull it and FIX IT. Same goes for another aircraft which I flew consecutively two days in a row. My passengers were lethargic; disgusted; pouring sweat. The first day two flights; both 34+ passenger or full. I did a water service on the second turn. Like I said; this plane should be pulled and fixed! The other aircraft was two flights and the vents did blow air out of these but it was as if the compressor wasn't working; the same way it feels when you have the air conditioning off in your car and you turn of the re-circulation button and let in the air from outside. These are unsafe conditions for the well being of both passenger and employees and the company needs to provide a safe environment for both.
