A BE20 pilot reported that a failed current limiter caused the right generator to drop off line. He was able to regain the generator by pulling the landing gear relay circuit breaker and then lowered the landing gear manually before landing.

Narrative

While climbing out about 4 miles north of the departure airport on a part 91 reposition flight from the aircraft suffered a partial electrical failure. The right current limiter failed and the right generator dropped offline. Following the aircraft checklists I attempted to bring the generator back online. On the first attempt the generator came back online and very quickly dropped offline again. Prior to the second attempt I pulled the landing gear relay circuit breaker. The second attempt to bring the generator back online was successful. I contacted Center and advised them of the situation. The Center Controller asked if I was declaring an emergency; I replied 'not at this time.' I then advised the Controller that we would need to preform a manual landing gear extension upon reaching our destination. I utilized the operational crew member to read the manual landing gear extension checklist and also to pump the gear down while I hand flew the aircraft. Manual landing gear extension was completed without problems and an uneventful landing was completed. The discrepancies were written up in the flight log and the maintenance department completed the required repairs returning the aircraft to service.
