Narrative
ON APCH INTO ALB WITH LNDG GEAR SWITCH DOWN AND PIN IN; I NOTICED GEAR STILL UP AND REQUESTED GO AROUND FROM FINAL. I CLBED INTO A LEFT HAND PATTERN; WIGGLED GEAR SWITCH AND LANDED W/O FURTHER INCIDENT. I RPTED THIS LNDG GEAR SWITCH PROB TO THE CHIEF PLT WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE COMPANY RAMP. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED GRANTS ARPT ADVISORY ABOUT 5 MI S OF THE ARPT. ABOUT 1/2-1/4 MI S OF GRANTS ARPT; I SLOWED THE ACFT TO 100 MPH; LOWERED THE LNDG GEAR; AND MADE MY RADIO CALL; '...XING MIDFIELD TO LEFT DOWNWIND RWY 13 AT GRANTS.' ANOTHER ACFT MADE AN INITIAL CALL ON 'FINAL RWY 13.' I BEGAN LOOKING FOR HIM WHILE I TURNED DOWNWIND. WHILE WATCHING MY TFC; I REDUCED PWR AND TURNED BASE; LOWERED FLAPS; TURNED FINAL; CONFIRMED TFC WAS CLR OF RWY; REDUCED PWR AND BEGAN FLARE; HEARD METAL/ASPHALT SOUND; ADDED PWR; PULLED BACK ON YOKE AND WIGGLED GEAR SWITCH; REDUCED PWR; LANDED AND TAXIED TO THE RAMP W/O FURTHER INCIDENT. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: ABSENCE OF GEAR WARNING HORN; ABSENCE OF MIRROR FOR POSITIVE GEAR DOWN INDICATION; AND DISTR OF PLT BY OTHER ACFT ON A NONSTANDARD TFC PATTERN ENTRY.
