ACR LGT LANDED ON A RWY NOT APPROVED BY COMPANY.

Narrative

APCH CTL WAS GIVING VECTORS FOR LNDG ON RWY 14R FROM THE WEST. I QUESTIONED THE REASON WE WEREN'T ON VECTORS FOR RWY 14L AND THE ANSWER WAS THEY WERE USING RWY 14L FOR NUMEROUS DEPS. RWY 14R WAS NOT ONE OF OUR USUAL RWYS. RECENT CHANGES TO OUR LNDG ARPT ANALYSIS ELIMINATED ALL REF TO SPECIFIC RWYS AND CONSIDERS NOW ONLY RWY LENGTH; TEMP; ALT; ETC. OUR COMPANY ALSO ELIMINATED INDIVIDUAL ARPT DIAGRAMS WHICH SHOW ALL NOT AUTHORIZED RWYS. IN REPLACEMENT; PAGES ARE ISSUED WITH A PARAGRAPH FOR RESTRICTIONS AND RWY USE AT CERTAIN ARPTS. THIS PAGE FOR IAH IS ON THE BACK OF THE PAGE WHICH SHOWS OUR GATE AND PARKING ARRANGEMENT. AFTER CHKING THE ARPT PAGE FOR WT RESTRICTION AND OUR ARPT LNDG ANALYSIS FOR LNDG LIMITS; I ELECTED TO LAND ON RWY 14R. AFTER LNDG AND FURTHER RESEARCH OF THE COMPANY ARPT PAGES I REALIZED THAT OUR COMPANY HAS A RESTRICTION AGAINST LNDG ON RWY 14R. TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE IS NO FAA VIOLATION ON THE LNDG PROC; AND IT IS COMMON FOR USE WITH OTHER AIRLINES. THE RESTRICTION IS PROBABLY PLACED BY OUR COMPANY BECAUSE THE RWY IS ONLY 100' WIDE INSTEAD OF THE MORE COMMON 150' WIDE USAGE. THE COMPANY CHANGES IN THE ARPT ANALYSIS AND THE ELIMINATION OF COMPANY ARPT DIAGRAMS WERE BROUGHT ABOUT BY DESIRE FOR COST REDUCTION. THIS WAS A CASE OF A PLT TRYING TO USE ALL COMPANY AND FAA PROCS AND AT THE SAME TIME ATTEMPT TO ELIMINATE COSTLY RADAR VECTORING TO ANOTHER RWY.
