POSSIBLE TCA VIOLATION.

Narrative

ON NOVEMBER; 1988; AT APPROXIMATELY XA:30 PM LOCAL TIME; I DEPARTED SANTA MONICA MUNICIPAL ARPT (SMO) ON AN INSTRUCTIONAL FLT. THE PURPOSE OF THE FLT WAS TO GET MY STUDENT; WHO IS A PRIVATE PLT WITH MULTIENG AND INSTRUMENT RATINGS; RECURRENT IN MULTIENG PROCEDURES BY CONCENTRATING ON PRACTICE INSTRUMENT APPROACHES. WE DEPARTED SANTA MONICA VFR ON A FLT THAT WAS INTENDED TO COVER INSTRUMENT APPROACHES AT SANTA ANNA (SNA); LONG BEACH (LGB) AND TORRANCE (TOA) ARPTS. WE TOOK OFF RWY 21 AFTER REQUESTING AND RECEIVING CLRNC TO PERFORM A 'RIGHT 270' DEPARTURE WHICH IS A STANDARD ROUTE TO GAIN THE ALTITUDE NECESSARY TO FLY THRU THE LOS ANGELES SPECIAL FLT RULES AREA. WE ENTERED THE CORRIDOR AT BOLLONA CREEK LEVEL AT 3500' AND SQUAWKING 1201 ON OUR MODE-C TRANSPONDER. AFTER XING OVER IMPERIAL HIGHWAY; WE RETURNED TO SQUAWKING 1200 AND REMAINED AT 3500'. THE NEXT PORTION OF THE FLT CONSISTED OF CONTACTING COAST APPROACH CONTROL AND THEN PERFORMING ILS APPROACHES AT SNA; LGB AND TOA. WE MADE A FULL STOP AT TOA AND; AFTER TAXIING BACK; WE MADE A STANDARD RIGHT TURN DEPARTURE. WE THEN REENTERED THE LA SPECIAL FLT RULES AREA AT 4500' OVER IMPERIAL HWY AND AGAIN SQUAWKING 1201. WHILE IN THE CORRIDOR; WE CONTACTED SANTA MONICA TWR AND WAS TOLD TO OVER-FLY THE ARPT AT 2000' AND MAKE FULL RIGHT TFC FOR RWY 21. AFTER XING BOLLONA CREEK; WE SQUAWKED 1200 AND STARTED A DESCENT INTO SANTA MONICA. UPON LANDING AND CONTACTING SANTA MONICA GND AT APPROXIMATELY XB:00 PM LOCAL TIME; WE WERE TOLD THAT LOS ANGELES APPROACH CONTROL WANTED TO SPEAK WITH US. THE CTLR THEN GAVE US A PHONE NUMBER TO COPY DOWN. NO REASON IS KNOWN NOR WAS ONE GIVEN FOR THEIR WANTING TO SPEAK WITH US.
