Synopsis

Air carrier flight crew reported the Aft Lav Master Warning light illuminated during approach. After landing; no indication of a fire was found.

Narrative

Ferry Flight from ZZZ1 to ZZZ. I was captain and pilot flying. On the arrival into ZZZ we get a Smoke Aft Lav master warning. I call for immediate action checklist smoke fire fumes and state that I have the radios and controls. Oxygen masks are put on. During immediate action I ask the FO to check the cabin and lav for any source of smoke or fire. He returns and reports that no smell of smoke or visual smoke is observed. He puts his oxygen mask back on and I call for the QRH smoke aft lav. He begins running the checklist as I maneuver us onto the final approach on a visual to XXR. While he is running the QRH I begin to slow down and configure the aircraft for landing. At the time we cross the final approach fix the first officer completes the QRH for smoke aft lav and the master warning message is still observed. I call for flaps 45 and before landing check. After this I request the trucks to be rolled and say we have an indication of smoke in our aft lav. I then state two souls on board and 4XX0 pounds of fuel. No emergency is declared over the radio by myself or the Controller. Once on the ground we pull lf the runway and request that the emergency crew take a look at the rear of our aircraft for any signs of fire or smoke. I set the brake and check the cabin and lav for any abnormal smell and smoke. I notice an electrical smell. Nothing is observed by the rescue crew so we open the main cabin door and have them check inside. I call dispatch and maintenance and explain the situation. Only a faint smokey smell is observed by the fire crew. I decide to taxi to the maintenance hangar and have the emergency crew follow behind us. A log book entry was entered and maintenance took over the plane.

Second reporter narrative

Flight from: ZZZ1-ZZZ ( ferry flight) First officer Pilot Monitoring. On the Arrival into ZZZ we have a master warning 'SOMOKE AFT LAV'. The Captain immediately called for the Immediate Action Checklist; we transferred radios and controls. Then we both looked to the back of the cabin to verify the conditions in the back; because the door was open for the ferry flight procedures. Captain commanded me to go; to the aft of the airplane to visually inspect the Lavatory for any visual indication of smoke; fire and the source of it; I walked to the back; the alarm was ON but there was no smell or indication of fire in the lavatory and/or under the sink. When I went back to the cockpit; I donned my mask and continued with the QRH checklist which instructed us to pull the circuit some breakers. By the time I completed the QRH checklist we were over the FAF and the Master warning didn't disappear; so the Captain called for the flap configuration and before landing checklist and after that he immediately communicated with the tower requesting rescue team to meet us up after landing. After we land and clear of the runway; run all the checklist; the Captain set the parking brakes thence we both walked to the back of the plane to verify the cabin and lavatory; at this time was an particular smell of rubber or wires. The rescue crew came onboard and verified with some equipment to detect smoke/fire but was no indication. After that we taxi to the maintenance hangar.
