Synopsis
CRJ-900 First Officer reported during landing; they had lost control of the aircraft due to reducing the power too early and over flaring which caused a hard landing.
Narrative
Hard landing of 900 feet per minute in ZZZ. The approach was stable coming in with the exception of being a little high towards the end. I should have gone around from the approach. In the last hundred feet I pulled the power too early and overflared thinking I was lower than what we actually were. Cause: When coming out of ZZZ we were originally supposed to take off at XA:30pm and instead took off around XC:30am due to delays in ZZZ. I believe that the tiredness felt by myself and the captain did play a significant factor in the landing. We selected the RNAV XX approach into ZZZ. The approach was stable with the exception of being slightly low and slightly high at certain points. When in the last two hundred feet I took the power out too early and over-flared as I though I was much lower than I actually was. I should have performed a go around after the '500 ft stable continue call'. Attempting to follow the vertical guidance of the flight director also played a role in addition to a lack of vertical guidance from the papis.
