Narrative
As we taxied northbound on taxiway 1 at ZZZ there was light rain falling and the taxiway appeared damp. We slowed to turn onto [taxiway] 2 to hold short of runway XXL; prior to turning the aircraft speed was approx 8-10kts. As I initiated the turn with the tiller the nosewheel began to slip and the aircraft continued to track forward towards the edge of the taxiway. I continued braking and believing the aircraft may exit the taxiway I deployed the TRs momentarily. The nosewheel regained traction and I brought the aircraft to a stop on the taxiway centerline short of the hold short line for XXL. As the aircraft was skidding there was a significant chatter from the nosewheel and multiple ecams popped up. As a result of this we contacted Maintenance Control through dispatch and decided to return to the gate. As we were taxiing back we informed tower of what occurred and requested they have airport ops inspect the area where the skid occurred as it didn't seem our speed or the damp conditions were significant enough to cause that kind of loss of traction. Airport ops reported back that the area had a build up of liquid de icing agent which the damp taxiway conditions must have obscured. The only other possible contributing factor was a somewhat light aircraft gross weight. Both the FO and myself recall the aircraft speed being around 10 knots or less. So I must believe the main factor was the de icing agent mixed with water and light aircraft weight. Subsequent to this occurrence the ZZZ airport authority closed the taxiway to clean it indicating they also believed this may have been the culprit.
