Synopsis

Air carrier flight crew reported a bank angle aural caution after missed approach. Crew corrected bank angle and returned for landing.

Narrative

On Day 0 on Flight ABCD ZZZ1 - ZZZ we accomplished a go around followed by a bank angle aural caution. The FO (First Officer) was PF and Captain was PM. The weather was degrading at ZZZ but as we approached it seemed to be good enough for the FO to continue the approach and land (on OE). At touchdown we began to drift off centerline so I called a go around and we went around. during the go around we were given a turn to 120 and a climb to 4000ft. the FO still hand flying at this time banked too hard in the direction of the turn giving us the aural 'Bank Angle' so I corrected with aileron and gave him back the controls and setup the Autopilot to be turned on. After we completed all of our checklists; and all other pertinent communications. we came back in to land again; now me as PF. We landed with no issue. The cause of the Go Around was due to the gusty wind conditions; contaminated runway surface; and a new FO still getting the feel for crosswind landings. After the go around the bank angle was due to the FCP and subsequent FD (Flight Director) not yet giving accurate information to the PF. After the FCP and FD were set back up Autopilot was engaged and we continued normally. The biggest threat in this was weather and OE. Suggestions: Stay ahead of the airplane; manage your time and workload effectively to avoid any UAS (Undesired Aircraft State). After recovering from a UAS understand how it occurred and how to move forward from it.

Second reporter narrative

On Day 0 on Flight ABCD ZZZ1-ZZZ we performed a go around followed a bank angle aural caution. I was pilot flying and the Captain was pilot monitoring. The weather at ZZZ was consistently degrading flying into the airport with gusty conditions increasing throughout. As PF I felt comfortable to continue the approach and landing. Just prior to touchdown I slowly started to drift off centerline and PM called a go around. During the go around we were given a turn; a banked too hard which warranted a bank angle aural caution. Pilot monitored assisted in correcting for the bank angle and then gave me back controls. Once everything had stabilized; we then were vectoring to land. My LCP (Line Check Pilot) elected to take the landing; which I agreed was the best course of action and he came back in to land with no issue. The cause of the go around was because of increasing gusting conditions on arrival; contaminated runway surface; and overall inexperience as a FO with only 45 hours in type. After the go around the bank angle was due to the FCP and the FD (Flight Director) giving accurate information to me. Once the FCP and FD were corrected and the Autopilot was engaged. We continued normally from there and the rest of the flight was uneventful. The key threats were an inexperienced FO on OE and weather.
