AN ACR 727 FLEW WITH PART OF ITS ELEVATOR POS INDICATING SYS INADVERTENTLY RENDERED INOP.
Narrative
DISPATCHED WITH AUTOPLT ON MCO. DURING CTL CHK R ELEVATOR POS INDICATOR OPS NORMAL. DID NOT NOTICE THAT L ELEVATOR POS INDICATOR WAS INOP. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATES THAT 'MCO' IS HIS ACR'S JARGON FOR 'MAINT CARRY OVER'; OR DEFERRED MAINT. ONE OF THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS THAT WAS PULLED DISABLED THE ELEVATOR POS INDICATING SYS. THIS WAS NOTICED BY AN FAA ACI RIDING ON THE JUMPSEAT. THE RPTR'S CHIEF PLT HAS GOTTEN MOST OF THE CREWMEN INVOLVED TO RPT TO THE ASRS. THE RPTR HAS NOT HEARD FROM THE FAA; AND DOES NOT KNOW IF ANY OTHER CREW PERSON HAS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 261295: WE REPORTED TO AIRPLANE (B-727) TO FIND MAINT WORKING ON THE AUTOPLT. THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPAIR THE PROB SO WE DISPATCHED WITH THE AUTOPLT INOP. 2 CIRCUIT BREAKERS WERE PULLED AND CLAMPED. UNKNOWN TO US AT THE TIME; 1 CIRCUIT BREAKER ALSO DISABLED THE FLT CTL SURFACE POS INDICATOR. THE CAPT AND FO COMPLETED THE FLT CTL CHK DURING THE TAXI CHKLIST AND FOUND THEM TO WORK OK. NOBODY NOTICED THE INOP GAUGE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 261541: A SINGLE AUTOPLT WARNING CIRCUIT BREAKER WAS PULLED AND COLLARED. ALL OTHER ACFT SYS AND INSTS OPERATED NORMALLY.
