JET BLAST ENCOUNTER.

Narrative

WE WERE PUSHED OFF GATE AT DCA. PUSH WAS UNEVENTFUL OUT OF ALLEY AND WERE GIVEN STANDARD START ENGS CLRNC. BRAKES WERE SET; GND CREW GIVEN 'CLRED TO DISCONNECT INTERPHONE.' DURING THIS TIME GND CTL ALSO CLRED AN S-80 OFF SAME GATE AREA. THE S-80 WAS PUSHED TO STOP DIRECTLY PERPENDICULAR OFF OUR NOSE. I CALLED RAMP (WHILE GND CREW STILL DISCONNECTING TOWBAR) CTL FOR AN EXPLANATION OF WHY THE S-80 IS SO CLOSE; WHILE FO MONITORS GND CTL. RAMP HAS NO ANSWER; BUT REFERS ME TO GND CTL (121.7). FO CALLS FOR TAXI. GND ASKS IF WE CAN CLR S-80; WE REPLY AFFIRMATIVE AND GND CTL THEN CLRS US 'L TURN; TAXI TO 36 VIA C-1 AND FOLLOW THE FOKKER.' WE CLR L; CLR R AND SLOWLY APPLY MINIMAL PWR TO MAKE A L TURN TO CLR. S-80 WINGWALKER ALSO GIVING US TAXI SIGNAL. WE TURN JUST A FEW FT WHEN WINGWALKER GIVES STOP SIGNAL AND WE DO PROMPTLY. A FEW SECOND PASSED AND WINGWALKER TRYING TO SIGNAL SOMETHING DIRECTLY BEHIND US APPARENTLY GND CTL THEN XMITS 'ACR X; HOLD YOUR POS; EMER IN PROGRESS.' WE WAIT SEVERAL MINS WITH LITTLE INFO RELAYED. WE NOTICE A CESSNA AT ABOUT OUR 7 O'CLOCK POS APPROX 75 FT BEHIND. EMER EQUIP ARRIVING AT CESSNA'S POS. GND CTL THEN RE-CLRS US TO TAXI AND IT APPEARS FROM RADIO CHATTER THAT THE CESSNA WAS SOMEWHAT BLOWN APPARENTLY AND NOSE TIPPED SLIGHTLY. GND CTL NEVER INDICATED ANYTHING BEHIND US ON ORIGINAL TAXI CLRNC OR SECOND TAXI CLRNC. THERE WAS NO FURTHER XMISSION FROM GND CTL ON SIT. UNEVENTFUL SHORT TAXI TO RWY 36 -- CLRED FOR TKOF. WINDS WERE RPTED GUSTS TO 25 KTS.
