FLC OF AN ACR LGT ON A TEST FLT AFTER MAJOR MAINT DECLARED AN EMER AND LANDED WITHOUT THE R MAIN GEAR INDICATING LOCKED DOWN.
Narrative
DURING COURSE OF A POST MAINT TEST FLT THE LNDG GEAR WAS MANUALLY LOWERED AS PER TEST REQUIREMENTS. THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR DID NOT INDICATE DOWN. THE CHKLIST WAS COMPLIED WITH; WITH NO SUCCESS. AN EMER WAS DECLARED AND THE ACFT RETURNED TO ATLANTA FOR AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG ON RWY 26L. THE PROB AROSE WHEN IN AN ATTEMPT TO PIN THE LNDG GEAR BEFORE MOVING THE ACFT IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE ACFT GEAR PIN BAG IN THE COCKPIT CONTAINED 3 NOSE GEAR AND 1 NOSEWHEEL STEERING BYPASS PINS. WHILE MAINT PERSONNEL RETURNED TO THE HANGAR TO RETRIEVE THE CORRECT GEAR PIN THE ACFT BLOCKED RWY 26L IN ATL FOR 25 MINS. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 273286: WE STOPPED STRAIGHT AHEAD ON THE RWY AND WERE MET BY EMER EQUIP AND AIRLINE MAINT PERSONNEL WHO WOULD PIN ALL 3 LNDG GEAR. OUR LNDG GEAR PINS WERE REMOVED FROM THE STORAGE POUCH IN THE COCKPIT AND PASSED OUT THE WINDOW TO MAINT. THEY WERE UNABLE TO PIN EITHER MLG BECAUSE OUR PIN POUCH CONTAINED 3 NOSE GEAR PINS BUT NO PINS FOR THE MLG. THE GEAR PINS HAD A PLAIN RED FLAG ATTACHED TO EACH ONE; PERHAPS IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO STENCIL EACH FLAG WITH ITS RESPECTIVE GEAR PIN IDENT AND LOCATION TO PREVENT THIS TYPE OF OVERSIGHT IN THE FUTURE.
