A-320 FLC FAILS TO OBTAIN TAXI CLRNC AT ORD AFTER LNDG AND CLRING RWY.

Narrative

WE WERE OPERATING FLT FROM MEMPHIS TO CHICAGO O'HARE. THIS WAS THE FIRST DAY; SECOND LEG; OF A 3 DAY TRIP. ALTHOUGH I HAD NEVER MET THE CAPT PREVIOUSLY; HE OSTENSIBLY SEEMED AMICABLE AND KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT THE A- 320. BUT I DID NOTICE SOME NON-STANDARD ACTIONS ON HIS PART RELATIVE TO THE UTILIZATION OF THE AUTOTHRUST AND AUTOPLT. I'VE BEEN INSTRUCTING ON THE A-320 FOR 4 YRS AND FELT THAT QUITE POSSIBLY I'D MENTION THE NON-STANDARD ACTIONS IN THE RELAXED SETTING OF A LAYOVER HOTEL RESTAURANT OR SOME SIMILAR ENVIRONMENT. BUT AFTER ONLY 1 LEG I DID NOT WANT TO APPEAR AS A 'KNOW IT ALL' INSTRUCTOR. I MENTION ALL THIS BECAUSE OF THE RELEVANCE TO THE 'INCIDENT.' WE LANDED AT CHICAGO O'HARE ON RWY 14R. AFTER EXITING THE RWY; ONE OF MY FIRST TASKS IS TO OBTAIN TAXI CLRNC FROM GND CTL. TWR INFORMED US TO SWITCH TO GND CTL WHICH I DID. AT THIS POINT; THE CAPT CONTINUED TO TAXI! DUE TO THE HIGH VOLUME OF TAXIING ACFT; THE FREQ WAS NON-STOP COM AND I COULD NOT BREAK IN TO REQUEST TAXI CLRNC. I TOLD THE CAPT WE DID NOT RECEIVE TAXI CLRNC BUT HE CONTINUED TO TAXI TOWARDS OUR GATES. I TOLD HIM AGAIN THAT WE DON'T HAVE TAXI CLRNC; BUT HE CONTINUED TO TAXI. HE TOLD ME HE WOULD STAY ON THE GND CTL FREQ ON RADIO #1; AND THAT I SHOULD TALK TO THE COMPANY AND ALSO THE NON- ATC RAMP FACILITY ON THE #2 RADIO. I DID SO AND THE COMPANY ACKNOWLEDGED OUR ARR TO O'HARE AND RAMP CTL TOLD US OUR GATE AND THE 'ALLEY' WAS CLR SO WE COULD TAXI ON 'THEIR' RAMP. AT NO TIME DID THE CAPT STOP THE ACFT; SO I ASSUMED HE RECEIVED TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FROM ATC GND. AFTER WE ARRIVED AT OUR GATE; COMPLETED THE APPROPRIATE TASKS AND CHKLISTS AND WERE PREPARING FOR THE NEXT LEG: I ASKED THE CAPT WHAT THE GND CTLR SAID TO HIM CONSIDERING WE TAXIED SO FAR WITHOUT A FORMAL CLRNC. HE THEN TOLD ME THAT HE NEVER TALKED TO THE GND CTLR. CORRECTIVE ACTION FOR THE SHORT-TERM -- I WILL NOT FLY WITH THIS PERSON AGAIN; AND PLAN TO TALK TO PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS.
