Narrative
THE FLT STARTED BY BEING 'BEEPED' VIA PAGER FROM CREW SCHEDULING. OUR CONTRACT ONLY ALLOWS 75 MINS FROM TIME OF BEING 'BEEPED' TILL BEING IN THE FLT DISPATCH ROOM. COMPANY HAS AN IMAGE OF BEING UNJUST IF YOU MISS THE 75 MINS CHK IN. I WAS UNABLE TO WAIT TO GET CHKED OUT SO I HAD TO LEAVE SHOPPING BASKET FULL OF PERISHABLE; MAKING ME FEEL GUILTY AND STRESSED. RUSHING TO ARPT WE WERE TOLD TO RUSH OUT AND TKOF ASAP. I HAD NOT A CHANCE TO EAT ALL DAY. I GRABBED A BARBECUE BEEF HAMBURGER AND ATE IT WHILE I PREFLTED THE PAPER WORK. I ADDRESSED THE CREW OF MY SLIGHT FEELING OF BEING RUSHED AND NOT GETTING TO EAT A GOOD MEAL. ON THE APCH TO RWY 18L AT MCO IN THE VISUAL; THE APCH CTLR SAID TO MAINTAIN 2500 FT UNTIL XING THE MCO VOR. WE INCLUDED THIS IN OUR COCKPIT LNDG BRIEF. UPON GLANCING DOWN AT MY RMI AND ITS #2 VOR NEEDLE I NOTICED IT POINTING DIRECTLY OFF MY R WING TIP. I THEN SAID 'OK; WE ARE CLRED BELOW 2500 FT XING THE VOR; AND I'M SHOWING ABEAM OUR R SIDE NOW' THE FO SAID SOMETHING LIKE 'THAT'S CORRECT.' I STARTED DSNDING DOWN TO ALMOST 2300 FT I SAW THE RMI #2 NEEDLE 'JUMP' SWING FORWARD; INDICATING THAT WE HAD NOT CROSSED THE VOR. I ASKED WHAT WAS GOING ON. THE FO HAD TUNED HIS VOR RECEIVER TO THE ILS RWY 18R WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE SO THE RMI HAD NOT BEEN POINTING TO THE VOR; WHEN I STARTED MY DSCNT. WHEN THE FO NOTICED HIS ERROR HE TUNED IN THE VOR. WE WERE BELOW XING RESTR. GND CTL ADVISED US THAT APCH HAD CALLED THEM AND TOLD THEM THAT WE CROSSED VOR AT 2000 FT NOT THE ISSUED 2500 FT. TOO SHORT OF A RPT TIME; NOT ENOUGH TIME TO EAT; AND COCKPIT RESOURCE MGMNT AND NEW FO PLAYED A PART IN THIS EVENT.
