FLC LANDED ON GND CTL FREQ.

Narrative

CAPT WAS PLT; FLYING THE RWY 27L ILS TO MIA. SOMETIME AFTER PASSING THE OM THE FO ACCIDENTALLY LOADED THE MIA GND CTL FREQ INTO THE 'ACTIVE' (VICE STANDBY) SIDE OF THE VHF COM RADIO. THIS PUT THE RADIO ON GND CTL FREQ (VICE TWR) FOR TOUCHDOWN AND ROLLOUT ON THE RWY. FO DID NOT CHANGE TO THE GND CTL FREQ UNTIL WELL AFTER LNDG CLRNC WAS RECEIVED. SO ACFT WAS PROPERLY CLRED TO LAND BY MIA TWR AND CREW ACKNOWLEDGED OVER THE TWR FREQ. SOME TIME AFTER THIS; THE SWITCH GOT MADE AND WAS NOT NOTICED UNTIL ACFT CLRED THE RWY. BASICALLY; AFTER RECEIVING LNDG CLRNC FROM TWR; THE ACFT SUBSEQUENTLY TOUCHED DOWN AND ROLLED OUT ON THE GND CTL FREQ. THE RADIO IS OF THE TYPE THAT HOLDS 2 FREQS; 1 ACTIVE AND 1 STANDBY -- AND IS LOCATED ACROSS THE COCKPIT FROM THE FO ON THE CAPT'S SIDE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE FO FLIES THE B-767 AND B-757 ON SOUTH AMERICAN RTES. HE ADMITS THAT THE ONLY WAY THAT THE GND CTL FREQ COULD HAVE COME UP ON THE RADIO IS FOR HIM TO HAVE SWITCHED THE RADIO HIMSELF. HE IS VERY AWARE OF THE HAZARDS OF BEING ON AN ACTIVE RWY BUT NOT BEING ON TWR FREQ. NO ONE OUTSIDE THE COCKPIT NOTICED THAT THIS HAPPENED. HE ALSO STATES THAT HIS CAPT 'RAN A GOOD COCKPIT.'
