Synopsis

CAPT OF AN LGT FOLLOWED THE WRONG SID RESULTING IN A DEV FROM ASSIGNED TRACK DURING DEP.

Narrative

DURING THE DEP BRIEFING; THE CAPT DESCRIBED THE MASPETH PROFILE DEP FOR RWY 13 INSTEAD OF THE WHITESTONE CLB PROFILE WHICH WAS ASSIGNED. I STATED WE WERE CLRED THE WHITESTONE CLB WHICH WAS A 040 DEGS (L TURN) AT 2.5 MI INSTEAD OF 340 DEGS (R TURN). WE WERE TO DO A R TURN THEN A L TURN LIKE WE DID THE PREVIOUS DAY. WE THEN ALSO CHKED THE FMGC AND IT WAS PROGRAMMED FOR THE WHITESTONE SHOWING THE PROPER NAVIGATIONAL DISPLAY ON THE NAVIGATIONAL DISPLAY. HOWEVER; AFTER DEPARTING RWY 13 AND AT 2.5 DME LGA HE ASKED FOR R TURN 340 DEGS. I STATED IT WAS L TURN TO 040 DEGS. HE INSISTED ON R TURN 340 DEGS WHICH HE DID. IN DOING SO; IT CAUSED SOME DOUBT IN MY MIND AND TRIED QUICKLY REFER TO THE SID TO CONFIRM 040 DEGS. BY THEN WITH A FREQ CHANGE WE WERE CLOSING ON 340 DEG HDG AND A TURN BACK TO THE L WE WOULD TURN INTO JFK TFC CAUSING A CONFLICT THERE. UPON CONTACTING DEP; WE WERE ADVISED WE HAD FOLLOWED THE WRONG SID. PART OF THE PROB WAS THAT HE WAS FLYING THE DEP WITH RAW DATA. HOWEVER; MY SIDE SHOWED A GOOD ROUTING BUT WITH INSISTENCE ON 340 DEG HDG WE OBVIOUSLY ERRED. THE DEP DESCRIPTIONS ON THE SID FOR RWY 13 COULD BE PRINTED IN BOLD PRINT AND SEPARATED.
