ACFT EQUIP PROB -- ACR HAD A TIRE CAP COME OFF ON TKOF DAMAGING SOME OF THE EQUIP ON THAT SIDE OF THE ACFT. DEST LNDG ON THE STILL INFLATED TIRE WAS WITHOUT FURTHER PROB.

Narrative

AFTER DEPARTING RWY 25R LAS WE CLBED TO FL290. ATC THEN INFORMED US THAT TIRE DEBRIS WAS DISCOVERED ON THE RWY AND IT MIGHT BE FROM ANY ACFT THAT RECENTLY DEPARTED. WE CHKED WITH LAS MAINT AND DETERMINED IT WAS THE SAME TYPE TIRE WE USE. AS A PRECAUTION; WE HAD EMER EQUIP STANDING BY FOR OUR LNDG IN DTW. APCH WAS UNEVENTFUL EXCEPT FOR A MINOR LEADING EDGE FLAP PROB WHICH WAS QUICKLY CORRECTED USING COCKPIT OP MANUAL PROC. LNDG WAS UNEVENTFUL AND CFR PERSONNEL INSPECTED TIRES AFTER WE CLRED RWY 03R IN DTW. THEY INFORMED US OF DAMAGE TO #4 MAIN TIRE. WE REQUESTED OUR COMPANY MAINT TO INSPECT DAMAGE BEFORE PROCEEDING FURTHER. COMPANY MAINT CAME OUT TO TXWY TO INSPECT AND CLRED US TO TAXI TO GATE. UPON ARR AT GATE; WE OBSERVED DAMAGE TO GEAR DOOR; TRAILING EDGE FLAP; SPOILER; AND #3 ENG COWL. TAXIED WITH FLAPS EXTENDED TO PREVENT FURTHER DAMAGE AND INFORMED GND CTL. RELEASED ACFT TO MAINT AT GATE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE CAPT SAID THAT THE TIRE CAP; ONLY; SEPARATED AND THE TIRE REMAINED INFLATED THROUGHOUT THE INCIDENT. THERE WAS EXTENSIVE DAMAGE TO THE B727-200; HOWEVER. THE CAPT COMPLEMENTED THE FLC FOR THEIR PERFORMANCE AND FOR THEIR USE OF GOOD COCKPIT RESOURCE MGMNT.
