CLRNC INTERP DEV FROM CLRNC AERO PUB PRESENTATION -- ACR RECEIVES A TAXI CLRNC FROM GND CTLR THAT WAS APPARENTLY IMPROPER AND WAS CRITICIZED OVER THE RADIO BY A TWR SUPVR.

Narrative

ACFT HAD JUST PUSHED OUT OF THE GATE AT MSP. THE TAIL OF THE ACFT WAS POINTED SW. (NOSE POINTING PARALLEL TO TXWY D). GND CTL ISSUED US TAXI INSTRUCTIONS 'TAXI TO RWY 29R VIA TXWY C' AFTER ASKING IF WE COULD SPIN THE ACFT COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO JOIN TXWY C (THE ASSUMPTION BEING THE USE OF C5). WE TOLD HIM WE COULD NOT SPIN L; BUT WOULD JOIN TXWY 'C' AT THE NEXT INTXN (C6). WE PROCEEDED TO JOIN TXWY 'C' AT C6 AS WE RECEIVED THE TAXI CLRNC AFTER THIS DISCUSSION: IE; 'CLRED RWY 29 VIA TXWY C. THERE WERE NO SPECIFICS GIVEN REGARDING WHERE TO JOIN 'C.' AFTER JOINING AT C6 A CTLR (WE ASSUME A SUPVR AS THE VOICE WAS DIFFERENT) TOLD US WE COULD NOT USE D; C-6; C AS WE WERE NOT ALLOWED TO TAXI ON D; WHILE THIS NOTE USED TO BE ON THE 10-7 NOTES IT NO LONGER IS! TO SPIN THE ACFT COUNTERCLOCKWISE WOULD HAVE NECESSITATED SWEEPING THE ADJOINING GATE AT HIGH PWR WHERE THERE WERE NUMEROUS GATES UNLOADING A DC-9. EITHER A NOTE SHOULD BE PLACED BACK IN REGARDING 757'S ON TXWY D OR PROPER GND CLRNCS NEED TO BE ISSUED; IE; 'CLRED TO RWY 29R VIA: TXWYS D; C5; C AND E.'
