ARPT PROB RAMP -- ACR CREW RPTS THAT DEN DOES NOT CTL COMMUTER ACFT ACTIVITY ON 'C' RAMP WHILE THEY DO CTL LARGER ACFT.
Narrative
ON TAXI OUT OF 'C' RAMP DEN GOING TO SPOT 6E WE WERE TOLD TO FOLLOW AN ACR 737 KEEP IT TIGHT. BEFORE I COULD CATCH UP TO THE 737 A COMMUTER BEECH ACFT CUT IN FRONT OF US. I DID NOT KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING; SO I SLOWED DOWN AND LET HIM IN. THE COPLT CALLED THE RAMP TWR; THEY SAID THIS HAPPENS OFTEN AND THAT IS WHY HE WANTED ME TO KEEP IT TIGHT. HE ALSO SAID THAT THESE ACFT ARE NOT CTLED ON THE RAMP. I FEEL THIS IS A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SIT WHEN SOME ACFT ARE CTLED AND OTHERS ARE ALLOWED TO PLAY 'CHICKEN' ON THE RAMP. IF I WOULD HAVE BEEN GOING AS FAST AS THE RAMP CTLR WANTED ME TO CATCH UP; I WOULD HAVE HAD TO STAND ON THE BRAKES TO MISS HIM. I FEEL THAT THE CAPT OPERATED HIS/HER ACFT IN AN UNNECESSARY MANNER. I ALSO FEEL THAT IF SOME ACFT ON THE RAMP ARE CTLED THEN ALL SHOULD BE. 'ONE LEVEL OF SAFETY FOR ALL.' IF NOT THEN WE SHOULD BE INFORMED THAT THERE ARE UNCTLED ACFT ON THE RAMP. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR WAS FLYING A B727-200 DURING THIS EVENT. HE SAID THAT HE WAS NOT TAXIING VERY FAST WHEN THE BEECH 1900 CUT IN FRONT OF HIS ACFT; BUT HE STILL HAD TO BRAKE TO AVOID HIM. LATER THE BEECH 1900 LEFT THE LINEUP TO USE ANOTHER RWY. AS IT TURNED OUT; HE SAID; THE COMMUTER DID NOT EVEN HAVE TO GET IN THE LINE. THE RPTR HAS BEEN BACK TO DEN SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THIS EVENT WITHOUT ENCOUNTERING ANY FURTHER PROBS; HOWEVER; SOME OF THE OTHER COMPANY PLTS HAVE MENTIONED THAT THEY HAVE HAD SIMILAR OCCURRENCES.
