PLT INADVERTENTLY APPLIED TOO MUCH REVERSE WHICH CAUSED A COMPRESSOR STALL.
Narrative
ON TOUCHDOWN IN GCM I PLACED ALL 3 ENGS IN REVERSE. I INADVERTENTLY WENT THROUGH THE GATE TO ABOUT 90 PERCENT N1 MOMENTARILY WHERE I BELIEVE I INDUCED A COMPRESSOR STALL IN ONE OF THE ENGS. TWR RPTED SEEING FLAMES COMING OUT OF AN ENG RIGHT AFTER TOUCHDOWN THEN GO OUT. ROLLOUT; TAXI AND SHUTDOWN WERE ALL NORMAL. FLT ATTENDANTS REPORTED A FEW BANGING NOISES ON TOUCHDOWN. AT THIS POINT I WAS OF THE FIRM OPINION I HAD INDUCED A COMPRESSOR STALL BY IMPROPER OP. IT WAS MY DECISION THAT THE ENGS WERE OK. I DECIDED TO CONSULT WITH MAINT THE NEXT MORNING. I BRIEFED MAINT ON THE INCIDENT AND WE DECIDED EVERYTHING WAS FINE AND TO MAKE AN INFO TO MAINT; WHICH I DID AND BRIEFED THE MECH MEETING THE FLT. I NOW FEEL I SHOULD HAVE HAD CONTRACT MAINT HAVE A LOOK AT THE ACFT THAT NIGHT FOR A MORE CONSERVATIVE EXERCISE IN SAFETY INSTEAD OF RELYING ON MY EXPERIENCE. AT THE VERY LEAST I AM SURE SEEING FLAMES COME FROM AN ENG IN THE DARK OF NIGHT WAS A SPECTACLE WHICH SHOULD HAVE BEEN DEALT WITH IN A MORE REGIMENTAL MANNER. I DO IN TURN BELIEVE I WAS RUNNING A SAFE OP AND I DO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY.
