AFTER TKOF RPTR CAPT THOUGHT THE GEAR RETRACTION SOUNDED DIFFERENT; BUT FLT CONTINUED NORMALLY WITH A NORMAL LNDG AT DEST. ONLY AFTER TAXIING IN DID ANOTHER ACFT RPT THAT RPTR'S ACFT HAD ONLY ONE NOSEWHEEL.

Narrative

LOCATION: OUTER MARKER RWY 19R SNA. NORMAL TKOF WAS ACCOMPLISHED AT ORD. DURING GEAR RETRACTION I THOUGHT THERE WAS SOMETHING A LITTLE DIFFERENT ABOUT THE SOUND AND MAYBE A LITTLE LONGER THAN NORMAL FOR THE RETRACTION RUMBLE TO STOP. IT WAS NOTHING SIGNIFICANT -- JUST A LITTLE DIFFERENT. I QUESTIONED THE FO ABOUT IT AND HE SAID HE DID NOT NOTICE ANYTHING ABNORMAL. I ELECTED TO SEND AN ACARS FREE TEXT MESSAGE TO DISPATCH ANYWAY IN CASE WE DISCOVERED SOMETHING AFTER LNDG -- JUST A HEADS UP. THE FO AND I DISCUSSED IT BRIEFLY AND RELYING ON HIS 2500 HRS ON THE EQUIP AND MY 1200 HRS WE DECIDED NO IRREGULAR ACTION WAS NECESSARY. I HAD NOTICED A SLIGHTLY UNUSUAL SOUND AND HE HAD NOTICED NOTHING. LNDG GEAR WAS EXTENDED NORMALLY ON FINAL TO SNA AND ALL INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. LNDG WAS NORMAL. ROLLOUT WAS NORMAL; IE; ON CTRLINE WITH NO VIBRATION AND NO PULLING IN EITHER DIRECTION. RWY TURNOFF WAS NORMAL AND TAXI IN WAS NORMAL. AT THIS POINT I FELT THAT MY FEELING ON TKOF WAS UNFOUNDED. AS WE WERE TURNING INTO THE GATE; THE TWR INFORMED US THAT A CESSNA HAD RPTED THAT OUR ACFT HAD ONLY ONE NOSEWHEEL. WE PARKED AT GATE UNEVENTFULLY. WE NEVER HAD ANY INDICATION OF A PROB.
