FLC OF A B757 ABORTED TKOF AFTER THE CAPT EXPERIENCED AN UNCONTROLLABLE YAW AND HESITATION OF AN AIRSPD INCREASE. MAINT CHK REVEALED NO BRAKE OR ENG SYS PROBS. JET BLAST FROM A B747 WAS SUSPECTED OF CAUSING THE PROB SINCE THE SUBSEQUENT TKOF WAS UNEVENTFUL.

Narrative

ACFT WT 227000 LBS; CAPT PERFORMING THE TKOF. B757 IFR FLT ONT-SDF CLRED 'POS AND HOLD FOR TFC XING DOWNFIELD.' TFC WAS B757; DC8; B747. WHEN THE B747 CLRED; FLT WAS 'CAUTION JET BLAST; CLRED FOR TKOF.' CLRNC ACKNOWLEDGED; AND CAPT BEGAN TKOF ROLL. AT ABOUT 125 KTS; FO NOTICED AIRSPD STAGNATION; WITH SPD. DROPPING TO ABOUT 123 KTS. ABOUT THIS TIME; CAPT NOTICED A YAW TO THE R CAUSING THE ACFT TO VEER OFF CTRLINE. CAPT CORRECTED BACK AND THE ACFT CONTINUED ACROSS CTRLINE. THE AIRSPD THEN BEGAN TO INCREASE. DURING THE TIME THE ACFT 'DRIFTED' L; THE CAPT CALLED FOR; AND PERFORMED THE REJECT. THE FO INFORMED THE TWR AND THE FLT WAS CLRED TO TAXI BACK TO RAMP. MAINT WAS INFORMED AND A WRITE-UP IN THE LOGBOOK WAS MADE. MAINT PERFORMED AN INSPECTION OF THE BRAKES AND TIRES. REJECT WAS DISCUSSED; ITEMS COVERED WERE: LOCKED BRAKE; THEN A RELEASE/ENG FAILURE OR HESITATION/JET BLAST FROM XING TFC. MAINT FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF LOCKED BRAKE AND CLRED THE WRITE-UP. IF IT WAS AN ENG HESITATION; IT WAS TRANSITORY. IF IT WAS JET BLAST; THE B747 HAD TO BE AT A VERY HIGH THRUST. CREW WAS EXPECTING 'JET BLAST' BUT SUCH A LARGE AMOUNT; IF IT WAS JET BLAST; WAS VERY UNEXPECTED. ALL PERSONS INVOLVED PERFORMED AS TRAINED. THE TWR ASKED IF WE NEEDED THE EQUIP. (TOLD NO.) THE FO CHKED THE REJECT SPDS/CALLED THE TWR/BACKED UP THE CAPT. THE RTO EQUIP ON THE ACFT PERFORMED EXCELLENT. THE FLT CONTINUED ON TO SDF WITHOUT INCIDENT.
