NIGHT FERRY; B727 B MODEL; DFW TO ALLIANCE; WX 400-1. UNABLE TO GET AFW ATIS ON GND AT DFW. AFTER GETTING AIRBORNE; FOUND WX TO BE OVCST 001; 5/8 MI VISIBILITY; AND RWY 34R CLOSED; USING RWY 34L WHICH IS A TXWY DESIGNATED AS A RWY. NOT LEGAL FOR ANY APCH -- CALLED DISPATCH. WE DID NOT HAVE A FIELD RPT SHOWING RWY CLOSED; AND HAD LITTLE INFO ABOUT THIS TXWY USED FOR A RWY. DECIDED TO GO BACK TO DFW; NOW CALLING 200 FT 1/2 MI VISIBILITY. WENT MISSED ON ILS RWY 35C. DFW WAS PRIMARY ALTERNATE; AUS WAS SECOND AND NOW CALLING 100 FT 1 MI VISIBILITY. AGAIN TALKED TO DISPATCH AND DECIDED ON OKC AS ALTERNATE. BARELY HAD FUEL FOR ANOTHER APCH AT DFW. WE NEARLY WENT MISSED FROM A CAT II; BUT THEN LANDED. TO TOP THINGS OFF; WE TURNED THE WRONG WAY ON A TXWY ON OUR WAY TO THE RAMP. NOBODY SAID ANYTHING AND WE PARKED AT THE GATE. THE WAY I SAW IT; WE WERE CAUGHT OFF GUARD BY THE RWY CLOSURE AT AFW; DETERIORATING WX; TASK SATURATION -- AT LEAST I WAS ON THE PANEL -- AND A LOW FUEL STATE. AND TO TOP IT OFF; A WRONG TURN ON A TXWY ON A VERY FOGGY NIGHT -- NOT A FUN NIGHT.
