A B727-200 INCURRED FOD TO THE FIRST STAGE FAN BLADES ON #1 ENG IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FAN BLADE NICKS WERE BLENDED.
Narrative
UPON ARR AT GATE FROM HANGAR OVERNIGHT 'B' CHK. RPT OF FIRST STAGE FAN BLADE FOD. I WAS THE LAST PERSON IN INLET. PERFORMED 'MAINT MANUAL CHAPTER XX.' FIRST STAGE BLADE COMPRESSOR NICK BLENDING. I USED 3 TYPES OF FILES; AND EMERY PAPER TO DRESS OUT MARKED BLADES FOR BLENDING. RETURNED ALL EQUIP TO KIT. DID A VISUAL INSPECTION OF INLET; AND PROCEEDED TO CLEAN OUT FILINGS; TO MY BEST ABILITY. I SAW NO ITEMS OF TOOLS LEFT IN ENG; AND WAS SATISFIED WITH REMOVAL OF ANY FILINGS OF BLADES IN THE FAN AREA. I UNDERSTAND THAT WHEN ACFT REACHED GATE; #1 ENG FAN WAS DAMAGED; AND COMPANY WAS CALLING OUT FOR A C- 1 DISC CHANGE. HUMAN PERFORMANCE ON MY PART; I BELIEVE WAS NOT A FACTOR. I HAVE PERFORMED THIS TASK MANY OF TIMES. A VISUAL INSPECTION AND CLEAN UP AND TOOLS RETURN WAS ACCOMPLISHED. I HAD SIGNED OFF AT XA00 ON THE JOB CARD WORK PERFORMED TO THIS ENG. I LEFT MY WORK AREA AT XA25. I DID HEAR THIS ACFT RUNNING DUE TO A CSD LEAK PROB ENCOUNTERED DURING AN ENG CHK DURING THE OVERNIGHT MAINT; WHICH ALSO I WAS INVOLVED WITH. WHICH MADE GETTING TO CLEAN THE #1 ENG LATE (ALSO PERFORMED #3 ENG COMPRESSOR BLENDING ON THIS ACFT AT THE SAME TIME). I WAS WORKING AS A LEAD; CALLED FOR ASSISTANCE TO WORK THIS TASK; NO ASSISTANCE CAME FOR THE TYPE ACFT. AS LEAD; I DON'T HAVE TO PERFORM THE TASK. SINCE PROB WITH CSD WAS SOLVED; AND STILL HAD TIME ON MY SHIFT; TOOK TASK AND PERFORMED TASK. DID NOT FEEL PRESSURED; OR RUSHED.
