AS THE B727 CONTACTED THE TWR THEY OBSERVED THE C130 TURNING TOWARDS THEM AND THE B727 EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. SUBSEQUENT CONVERSATION WITH TWR SUPVR INDICATED A COORD BREAKDOWN HAD OCCURRED.

AS THE B727 CONTACTED THE TWR THEY OBSERVED THE C130 TURNING TOWARDS THEM AND THE B727 EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. SUBSEQUENT CONVERSATION WITH TWR SUPVR INDICATED A COORD BREAKDOWN HAD OCCURRED.
Narrative
WE WERE CLRED FOR AN ILS RWY 14 APCH; AND APCH CTL SAID THERE WAS A C130 ON A R DOWNWIND IN A VFR PATTERN. THE C130 WOULD FOLLOW US. THE WX WAS MVFR WITH HAZE AT DUSK. I WAS FLYING 'INSIDE.' DURING THE FREQ CHANGE TO TWR THE FO SPOTTED THE C130 TURNING A R BASE INTO US. I MADE AN EVASIVE MANEUVER; L TURN AWAY FROM THE FINAL AND CLBED TO 2000 FT. WE NOTIFIED THE TWR OF OUR DEV (WE GOT A TA AFTER THE MANEUVER WAS INITIATED). WE WERE THEN CLRED TO LAND; BUT BECAUSE OF OUR MANEUVER WE WERE NOT IN A POS TO CONTINUE THE APCH. THE TWR HAD US ENTER A L DOWNWIND AT WHICH POINT WE PICKED UP THE C130 ON A R DOWNWIND. THE TWR ASKED US TO TURN BASE BUT THE C130 APPEARED TO BE TURNING BACK INTO US AGAIN! WE ELECTED TO CONTINUE ON THE DOWNWIND UNTIL WE WERE SURE THE C130 WAS ASSIGNED A HDG AWAY FROM US. WE THEN TURNED IN AND MADE AN UNEVENTFUL LNDG. WHEN WE WERE ON THE GND A PA WAS MADE INFORMING THE PAX OF THE TFC CONFLICT. A PHONE CONVERSATION WITH THE TWR INDICATED THERE WAS A COM PROB BTWN APCH AND THE TWR. ORIGINALLY THE TWR PLANNED ON THE C130 BEING FIRST; WHILE APCH WAS PLANNING ON US BEING FIRST. IN THE HDOF THE C130 APPARENTLY NEVER GOT THE WORD.
