Narrative
JUN/MON/98; FLT AT APPROX XA30. THE CAPT CALLED OUR #1 FLT ATTENDANT TO THE COCKPIT AND INFORMED HER THAT ENG #1 HAD LOST THE OIL PRESSURE AND CAUSED IT TO COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. HE INSTRUCTED HER TO PREPARE THE CABIN FOR LNDG IN TAMPA; WE HAD APPROX 15 MINS; WE WOULD NOT NEED TO USE OUR PREPLANNED EMER CARDS; AN EVAC WOULD NOT BE NECESSARY AND WE WOULD BE ESCORTED TO THE GATE BY FIRE TRUCKS WHEN WE LANDED. WE WERE NOT TO WORRY THE ACFT WILL FLY JUST FINE WITH 2 ENGS. OUR #1 BRIEFED THE #2 AND MYSELF; AND I THEN PREPARED THE CABIN FOR LNDG AS OUR CAPT MADE THE PA EXPLAINING OUR DIVERSION TO THE PAX. OUR LNDG IN TAMPA WAS UNEVENTFUL AND WE TAXIED TO THE GATE. OUR PAX DEPLANED AND WERE MET BY THE AGENTS AND LCL MEDIC. THE AGENTS MADE EVERY EFFORT TO REBOARD THE PAX ON DIFFERENT FLTS. OUR CREW REMAINED ON BOARD FOR 5 1/2 HRS WAITING FOR AN ACFT TO BE FERRIED FROM MIA FOR US TO CONTINUE. WITHIN 1 HR OF LNDG; DCA FLT SVC MGR CALLED FOR OUR #1 AND WANTED TO MAKE SURE THE CREW WAS OKAY. APPROX XG00 AN ACFT ARRIVED; PAX WERE BOARDED AND WE DEPARTED TAMPA FOR MIAMI. OUR CREW WAS MET BY MIA FLT SVC MGR WHO ALSO WANTED TO MAKE SURE WE WERE OKAY AND OFFER ANY HELP. A CALL WAS PLACED TO CREW SCHEDULING TO HAVE OUR CREW RELEASED AND DEADHEAD HOME THAT EVENING.
