A B727-200 WAS FUELED CORRECTLY USING THE INOP INDICATOR METHOD BUT THE FUELING FORM WAS INCORRECTLY FILLED OUT INCURRING A DELAY.

Narrative

ASSIGNED TO ASSIST IN ALTERNATE FUEL METHOD FOR INOP #3 FUEL TANK ON A B727. PERFORMED CORRECT ALTERNATE FUELING PROCS PER ACFT SVCING MANUAL 03-01-16 AND 06-01-03. ON OP-XA FUEL FORM; I INCORRECTLY STATED THAT THE 'BEFORE FUELING' AMOUNT FOR THE #3 FUEL TANK WAS 10500 LBS. IN FACT; IT WAS '0' LBS; AS WE HAD EMPTIED THE FUEL TANK TO METER IN A KNOWN AMOUNT OF FUEL FOR FLT. AS A RESULT; THE BEFORE FUEL TOTAL WAS 10.5K LBS OFF. (OP-XA FUEL SLIP WAS CORRECTLY FILLED OUT AND DID SHOW THE FUEL TANK WAS EMPTY AT START OF ALTERNATE FUELING METHOD.) I DID NOT REALIZE THIS MISTAKE AS WE WERE TRYING TO DISPATCH THE ACFT AS IT WAS ALREADY ON DELAY. WHEN THE FLC GOT THE FUEL SLIPS THEY STARTED DOING THEIR PREFLT CHK OF THE FUEL SLIPS. THEY NOTICED THAT THE BEFORE FUELING AMOUNT AND THE AMOUNT OF FUEL ADDED TO THE ACFT WAS INCORRECT. AFTER CONSULTATION WITH EACH OTHER; IT APPEARS THAT THE FLC DETERMINED THAT THEY HAD ENOUGH FUEL TO CONTINUE WITH THEIR FLT. UNFORTUNATELY; I WAS NOT THERE TO WITNESS THIS; AND NEVER GOT A CHANCE TO CORRECT THE RECORDS. THE ACFT HAD; BY OUR CALCULATIONS; APPROX 500 LBS MORE FUEL THAN THE DISPATCH FUEL LOAD CALLED OUT FOR. IT HAD THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL PER THE ACFT SVCING MANUAL. WE DID LOWER THE FUEL STICKS AND VERIFIED THE TANK HAD THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FUEL BEFORE THE OTHER TANKS WERE SVCED. NOTHING ABNORMAL. CAN'T PROVIDE ANY OTHER INFO OTHER THAN THIS WAS A CLASSIC PAPERWORK ERROR DUE TO TIME CONSTRAINTS AND COMPLEXITY OF THE FUEL SLIPS. I WAS INSTRUCTING THE MECHS ASSIGNED TO THE ACFT HOW TO DO THIS JOB. I DID ADMIT TO THEM MY ERROR SO THEY WOULD NOT REPEAT IT.
