Synopsis

AN ATR72 ON APCH AT 300 FT DECLARED AN EMER DUE TO A FIRE WARNING IN #2 ENG CAUSED BY A FAILED ENG FUEL LINE COUPLING SEAL.

Narrative

ON JAN/XA/99; FLT XXX WAS ENRTE FROM MOLINE; IL; TO STL. ON SHORT FINAL TO RWY 12L; WE HAD AN ENG FIRE INDICATION IN THE COCKPIT (CAP LIGHT; CONTINUALLY REPETITIVE CHIME; MASTER WARNING; ILLUMINATED #2 ENG FIRE HANDLE). THE CAPT SILENCED THE AURAL ALERT; AND I CONTINUED THE LNDG ONCE ON THE GND ON THE ROLLOUT; THE CAPT TOOK THE STEERING AND CTL OF THE ACFT AND WE TURNED OFF ON TXWY N. WE COMPLETED THE MEMORY ITEMS FOR AN ON GND ENG FIRE AND THEN RAN THE APPROPRIATE EMER CHKLIST. THE CHKLIST CALLED FOR US TO NOTIFY ATC; IN WHICH THE CAPT DECLARED AN EMER AND HAD CFR NOTIFIED. WE THEN NOTIFIED THE FLT ATTENDANTS OF THE SIT AND HAD THEM (2) EVAC THE CABIN THROUGH THE MAIN CABIN DOOR (BECAUSE THE FIRE INDICATION WAS ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE). AFTER WE COMPLETED THE CHKLIST; THE CAPT ASKED ME TO GO IN BACK AND MAKE SURE ALL PAX WERE OUT OF THE ACFT AND TO ENSURE ALL 17 PAX WERE IN ONE AREA AWAY FROM THE ACFT. SOON THEREAFTER; CFR CAME WITH THE TRUCKS AND DETERMINED THE FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED. DURING THE EVAC PROCESS NO ONE WAS INJURED; INCLUDING THE CREW MEMBERS.
