AN ACR FLC FLYING B727 FROM TUS EXPERIENCES WINDSHEAR AFTER TKOF AND DESCRIBES EXCEEDING MAX ENG PARAMETERS AFTER SETTING THE THRUST LEVERS TO THEIR PHYSICAL STOPS.

Narrative

DEPARTED TUS RWY 11. ON CLEANUP AT 1000 FT AGL; WHILE AT 2 DEGS; JUST PRIOR TO FINAL FLAP RETRACTION; GOT 'WINDSHEAR' AUDIO WITH CORRESPONDING FLASHING RED WARNING LIGHT. (NOTE: WINDS WERE GUSTING TO 16 KTS ON SURFACE; FROM ROTATION THROUGH ENTIRE CLBOUT IT WAS SMOOTH.) AIRSPD WAS STEADY WITH NO FLUCTUATIONS AND NO PERFORMANCE DEGRADATION OBSERVED. HOWEVER; DUE TO HVY WT; HIGH OUTSIDE AIR TEMP; AND CLOSE GND PROX; COMPLIED WITH COMPANY PROC AND 'FIREWALLED' ENGS. WINDSHEAR WARNING WAS CLRED IN 3-5 SECONDS. THROTTLES WERE RETARDED TO CLB PWR. ALL CREW AGREED WE WERE AT FIREWALL FOR 3-5 SECONDS AS A BEST GUESS ESTIMATE. ALL ENGS OPERATED NORMALLY. (MAX EPR OBSERVED WAS 2.3-2.4; EGT WENT INTO RED RANGE MOMENTARILY.) DECIDED TO CONTINUE TO DEST (MSP) DUE TO NORMALLY OPERATING ENGS AND SHORT DURATION OF ENCOUNTER. CALLED MAINT TO FIND OUT WHAT PARAMETERS WERE NEEDED FOR A PROPER EVALUATION OF ENG CONDITION. THEY SAID IT WAS POLICY TO PULL THE FLT RECORDER. WE WROTE UP A DISCREPANCY IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK; INCLUDING ENVIRONMENTAL PARAMETERS AND SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE EVENT. UPON CHKING WITH MAINT THE NEXT DAY; FOUND OUT #1 AND #3 ENGS WERE WITHIN LIMITS; BUT THAT #2 ENG HAD EXCEEDED EGT LIMITS FOR 3 SECONDS WHILE N1 OVERSPD FOR 5 SECONDS. IN RETROSPECT; IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN PRUDENT TO GET A FULL DISCUSSION WITH MAINT ON THE POSSIBLE EXCEEDANCE BEFORE CONTINUING TO DEST.
