Narrative
I BEGAN PAX BOARDING. THE ACFT TYPE WAS A CANADAIR REGIONAL JET CL65 (50 SEATER) WHICH REQUIRES ONLY 1 FLT ATTENDANT ON BOARD; AND I WAS THE FLT ATTENDANT OF RECORD FOR THAT FLT. I RECEIVED THE PAX CUTOFF FROM THE RAMP AGENT. I THEN COMPLETED MY WT AND BAL PAPERWORK; HANDED THE PAPERWORK TO THE COCKPIT; THEN PROCEEDED TO DO MY VERIFICATION/EXIT ROW/ELECTRONIC EQUIP PA ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE FORWARD PART OF THE CABIN IN FRONT OF THE PAX USING THE PA SYS. IMMEDIATELY AT THE END OF MY ANNOUNCEMENT I BEGAN MY CABIN COMPLIANCE CHK FROM FORWARD TO AFT. WITHIN ABOUT 30 SECONDS I WAS INTERRUPTED BY THE RAMP AGENT AND NOTIFIED THAT THERE WERE 2 ADDITIONAL LATE PAX EXPECTED TO BOARD MY FLT. AT THAT POINT I STOPPED WHAT I WAS DOING; NOTIFIED THE COCKPIT OF THE 2 LATECOMERS AND THAT AS SOON AS THOSE PAX BOARDED I WOULD GIVE MY VERIFICATION/EXIT ROW/ELECTRONIC EQUIP ANNOUNCEMENT TO THOSE PAX INDIVIDUALLY INSTEAD OF DOING IT AGAIN USING THE PA SYS. AFTER THAT; I STOOD NEXT TO THE MAIN CABIN DOOR INSIDE THE CABIN WAITING FOR THE 2 LATE PAX TO BOARD THE ACFT; HOWEVER; THEY NEVER ARRIVED. I RECEIVED THE FINAL PAX CUTOFF FROM THE RAMP AGENT. THE RAMP AGENT HANDED ME THE BAGGAGE PAPERWORK; I HANDED THE PAPERWORK TO THE COCKPIT. I WAITED FOR THE COCKPIT TO COMPLETE THEIR PAPERWORK; THEN HANDED THE COCKPIT'S PAPERWORK BACK TO THE RAMP AGENT. AT THAT POINT; I CLOSED THE MAIN CABIN DOOR; TOLD THE COCKPIT 'OK TO TAXI;' THEN LOCKED THE COCKPIT DOOR. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THAT; AT APPROX XA00; I PROCEEDED TO BEGIN MY SAFETY DEMONSTRATION IN THE FORWARD PART OF THE CABIN IN FRONT OF PAX USING THE PA SYS. WITHIN MY FIRST 2 SENTENCES; AS I WAS LOOKING TOWARDS MY PAX AND THE CABIN; I NOTICED THAT THE OVERHEAD BINS WERE NOT SECURED SHUT AND THAT I HAD NOT COMPLETED MY INITIAL CABIN COMPLIANCE CHK PRIOR TO TAXI. I IMMEDIATELY STOPPED MY SAFETY DEMONSTRATION AND CONTACTED THE COCKPIT USING THE INTERPHONE NOTIFYING THEM THAT IT WAS 'NOT OK TO TAXI.' I IMMEDIATELY PROCEEDED THROUGH THE CABIN FROM FORWARD TO AFT TO DO MY COMPLIANCE CHK (SEATBELTS FASTENED; BAGGAGE STOWED PROPERLY; OVERHEAD BINS SECURED SHUT; ELECTRONIC DEVICES OFF; NO SVC ITEMS AT PAX SEATS; NO ITEMS NEAR EMER EQUIP; GALLEY SECURE; NO PAX IN LAVATORY; BRIEFING OF PAX IN EXIT ROW). ONCE COMPLETED; I NOTIFIED THE COCKPIT OF WHAT HAD HAPPENED AND THAT IT WAS 'NOW OK TO TAXI.' I THEN PROCEEDED WITH THE CONTINUATION OF MY SAFETY DEMONSTRATION AND FINAL CABIN COMPLIANCE CHK. THE BAL OF THE FLT CONTINUED AS NORMAL. AS I LOOK BACK AT WHAT HAPPENED; I REALIZE THAT I ALLOWED MYSELF TO GET DISTR BY THE RAMP AGENT NOTIFYING ME THAT THERE WERE 2 ADDITIONAL LATE PAX EXPECTED TO BOARD. HOWEVER; THAT FLT I WAS DISTR BY THE 2 LATE PAX AND THE POTENTIAL FOR BEING DELAYED DUE TO THOSE LATE PAX. BY THE TIME I HAD RECEIVED THE SECOND FINAL PAX CUTOFF AND HAD SHUFFLED PAPERWORK BACK AND FORTH BTWN THE RAMP AGENT AND THE COCKPIT; IT SEEMED TO ME THAT I HAD ALREADY COMPLETED MY INITIAL CABIN COMPLIANCE CHK BECAUSE AT THE TIME THE RAMP AGENT HAD INTERRUPTED ME; I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF DOING MY COMPLIANCE CHK; HOWEVER; THE FACT WAS; I JUST HADN'T FINISHED IT YET.
