Synopsis

A CL65 WAS DISPATCHED IN NON COMPLIANCE ON A MAINT FERRY FLT WITHOUT THE REQUIRED MAINT RELEASE AND FERRY PERMIT SIGNATURES.

Narrative

UPON POSTFLT INSPECTION; THE FO ADVISED ME OF A FLUID LEAK ORIGINATING FROM THE BRAKE MECHANISM AND EXTENDING DOWN THE WHEEL AND ONTO THE GND. AFTER INSPECTING IT MYSELF; WE BOTH AGREED THAT IT APPEARED TO BE ORIGINATING FROM A SEAL IN THE R MAIN INBOARD CALIPER. WE ELECTED TO ADVISE COMPANY MAINT CTL AND REQUEST THEIR ASSISTANCE. SHORTLY THEREAFTER; THEY DISPATCHED A CONTRACT MAINT MECH. WE; THE CREW; PROVIDED ASSISTANCE TO THE MECH BY APPLYING AND RELEASING BRAKE PRESSURE; AND BY LOOKING ALONG WITH HIM; FOR THE LEAK. HIS ASSESSMENT WAS THAT IT WAS NOT AN ACTIVE LEAK AT THIS TIME; AND THAT THE AIRPLANE WAS SAFE TO FLY. HE THEN CALLED OUR COMPANY MAINT CTL AND ADVISED THEM OF HIS ASSESSMENT; AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO PREPARE THE MAINT LOGBOOK FOR A FERRY FLT BACK TO BASE. I OBSERVED AS HE COMPLETED THE MAINT LOGBOOK; AND OBVIOUSLY I WAS MISTAKEN WHEN I THOUGHT I SAW HIM PLACE HIS SIGNATURE ONTO THE BOTTOM ENTRY OF THE MAINT LOG. AFTER ARR TO BASE; THE LINE MECH ADVISED ME THAT THE MAINT LOG HAD NOT BEEN SIGNED BY THE CONTACT MECH; AND THAT I HAD FLOWN A MAINT FERRY FLT WITHOUT THE FERRY PERMIT BEING SIGNED.
