Narrative
NIGHT LNDG RWY 26R ATL; CAPT FLYING; DRY RWY; WINDS 320 DEGS AT 19 KTS GUSTING TO 30+ KTS. CEILING 3000 FT AND CLR. FLEW A NORMAL ILS APCH AT V SPDS OF 129/142 KTS +10 KTS FOR WIND (152 KTS). WINDSHEAR ALERT WITH +/-15 KTS ON APCH AT 1000 FT AND BELOW. NORMAL XWIND LNDG; WENT INTO REVERSE; AND ALL 4 MAIN TIRES BLEW. STOPPED ABOUT 4000 FT DOWN RWY ON THE CTRLINE. TWR RPTED FIRE UNDER THE L SIDE OF ACFT AND MOMENTS LATER TOLD US ALL OUR MAIN TIRES WERE BLOWN. EMER EQUIP WAS CALLED OUT; NO EVAC WAS NECESSARY. MAINT REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES; ACFT WAS INSPECTED AND RETURNED TO SVC THAT DAY. ANTISKID SYS WAS SUSPECT; BUT CHKED OK. I FEEL THAT THE TIRES WERE NOT SPINNING AT TIME OF TOUCHDOWN; BLOWING ALL 4 AT ONCE. SUSPECT BRAKE SNUBBERS ON MAIN WHEELS OR WHEELS WERE FROZEN UP FROM SLUSH ON RWY AT IND. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE LNDG WAS NORMAL AND WHEN ROLLING OUT ALL 4 TIRES ON THE MAIN LNDG GEAR BLEW. THE RPTR SAID MAINT PUT THE AIRPLANE IN A HANGAR AND CHKED THE ANTISKID SYS AND FOUND NO MALFUNCTION OF THE SYS. THE RPTR SAID IT WAS BELIEVED THAT ICE HAD ACCUMULATED ON THE LOWER LNDG GEAR AND PREVENTED THE WHEELS FROM ROTATING AT TOUCHDOWN. THE RPTR STATED THE TKOF WAS MADE FROM AN ARPT THAT HAD SLUSH ON THE RWY AND TXWY AND WAS THE SOURCE OF THE ICE.
