CL65 CREW HAD TRACK DEV IN ZBW CLASS E.

Narrative

FOR OUR EARLY MORNING DEP FROM BGR; THE CAPT PROGRAMMED OUR FMS WITH THE COMPANY 'CANNED' RTE. WE RECEIVED OUR CLRNC ON THE GND AS 'AS FILED.' SHORTLY AFTER RECEIVING CLRNC; A MAINT ITEM WHICH WAS UNRELATED WAS DEFERRED OVER THE PHONE WITH THE COMPANY; WHICH DELAYED THE FLT NEARLY 1 HR; AND RESULTED IN A NEW DISPATCH RELEASE. AFTER THIS WAS TAKEN CARE OF; WE BOARDED; AND DEPARTED. AFTER DEP; WE WERE GIVEN A HEADING TO INTERCEPT J49. WE DID NOT NOTICE THAT J49 WAS NOT PART OF OUR FMS PROGRAMMED; 'CANNED RTE;' BUT WAS ACTUALLY WHAT WE WERE FILED AND CLRED FOR. UPON HDOF TO ZBW; HE ASKED US IF WE WERE INTERCEPTING J49; WHICH WE RESPONDED IN THE AFFIRMATIVE; SINCE THE AIRPLANE WAS CAPTURING THE PROGRAMMED RADIAL; WHICH UNBEKNOWNST TO US AT THAT TIME WAS J80. HIS QUERY DID RAISE MY CURIOSITY AND I DID LOOK AT OUR PAPER CLRNC; AND THEN LOOKED AT THE FMS AND REALIZED THEY WERE DIFFERENT. WHEN I QUESTIONED THE CAPT; HE REALIZED THAT THE CANNED RTE WAS DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE WERE FILED OR CLRED FOR; AND WE WERE ON THE WRONG AIRWAY. HE THEN TOLD ME TO ASK ATC FOR A HEADING SO WE COULD GET IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION. THE CTLR THEN ASKED IF WE WERE ON J80; WHICH WE SAID YES; AND HE TOLD US THAT WAS NOT THE CORRECT RTE; AND SHORTLY THEREAFTER HE GAVE US OUR CORRECT CLRNC; WHICH WAS WHAT WE HAD ON PAPER. THE CAPT THEN PROGRAMMED THE FMS TO THE CORRECT RTE AND THE REST OF THE FLT PROCEEDED WITHOUT INCIDENT. I BELIEVE SOME CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE: THE CAPT NOT CHKING THE FMS AFTER PROGRAMMING IT TO OUR PAPER CLRNC; AND A LACK OF INITIATIVE ON MY PART TO CHK HIS WORK. IT WAS A VERY EARLY FLT; WITH A SCHEDULED XB30 AM DEP. AFTER GETTING PICKED UP FROM THE HOTEL AT XA45 AM AND THE FLT DELAYING FOR 1 HR; I DO BELIEVE THAT FATIGUE AND A LACK OF ANYTHING AVAILABLE TO EAT MAY HAVE CAUSED US TO MISS THIS ITEM. THIS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE MECHANICAL PROB THAT THE CAPT WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN; COULD HAVE CAUSED SOME OVERSIGHT.
