ACR CREW DISCOVERS ACFT SKIN DAMAGE. THEY ELECT TO CARRY IT TO THE NEXT MAINT STATION WITHOUT RPTING IT TO MAINT.
Narrative
WE FLEW FROM MSP TO BOI ON JUL/MON/00. WHILE ON GND AT BOI; FO NOTED SCRATCH ON L SIDE OF FUSELAGE AND BROUGHT IT TO MY ATTN. IT WAS JUST BELOW AND AFT OF THE FORWARD ENTRY DOOR; AND WAS BARELY VISIBLE WHILE STANDING IN THE JETWAY. I LET CAPT KNOW AND HE LOOKED AT IT ALSO. TO ALL 3 OF US IT LOOKED LIKE A SCRATCH AND FROM ITS LOCATION WE KNEW THE BOISE JETWAY DID NOT CAUSE IT. THE CAPT ELECTED TO CONTINUE ON OUR RETURN LEG TO MINNEAPOLIS. AFTER OUR ARR AT MSP; I PASSED ALONG TO MAINT THE SCRATCH WE NOTICED. WHEN THEY PULLED THE JETWAY AWAY AND IN A BETTER LIGHTING SIT THAN WE HAD IN BOI; YOU COULD SEE IT WAS A SILVER DOLLAR SIZE DENT; NOT JUST A SCRATCH. MAINT SANDED IT DOWN AND PERFORMED AN ULTRASOUND ON IT. IT CLRED AND WE CONTINUED ON WITH IT TO CLE. IT LOOKED OBVIOUS TO ME A JETWAY CAUSED IT ON A PREVIOUS FLT THAT DAY OR SEVERAL DAYS PRIOR. IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO SEE SO WHO KNOWS HOW LONG AGO IT HAPPENED. WE SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A CLOSER LOOK AT IT IN BOI AND RPTED IT TO THEIR MAINT.
