Narrative
RPTED FOR RESERVE WINDOW AT XA00 IN CVG. WAS ASSIGNED 'READY RESERVE' TO RPT AT XC25. AT APPROX XC30 WAS ASSIGNED A FLT TO MKE WITH A SCHEDULED DEP OF XC40. NEEDLESS TO SAY; THE FLT WAS DELAYED DUE TO MY LATE ARR AT THE ACFT. AFTER BOARDING; WE EXPERIENCED A MECHANICAL PROB WHICH REQUIRED DEPLANING. AFTER THE PROB WAS FIXED; WE BEGAN REBOARDING. THE LCL TIME WAS NOW JUST AFTER XD00. DURING BOARDING; I REALIZED I WOULD NOW EXCEED 16 HRS ON DUTY; THUS WOULD NOT HAVE 8 HRS OF LOOK-BACK REST. I NOTIFIED CREW SCHEDULING AT ABOUT XD10. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO HOLD FOR A CHIEF PLT. AFTER HOLDING FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD; CAPT AND I WERE CONNECTED. I EXPRESSED MY BELIEF THAT THIS ASSIGNMENT WAS NOW ILLEGAL. AFTER A FRANK AND SPIRITED DISCUSSION; CAPT DIRECTED ME TO ACCEPT THE ASSIGNMENT. I ACCEPTED UNDER PROTEST. WHEN RELEASED IN MKE; I HAD BEEN ON DUTY (NOT RESTING) FOR 17 HRS 18 MINS. THIS GAVE ME A 24 HR LOOK-BACK REST OF 6 HRS 42 MINS. AT THE TIME I WAS ON THE PHONE WITH CAPT; I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT MY ABILITY TO SAFETY OPERATE AFTER OVER 17 HRS OF DUTY INTO POOR WX WITH A PLANNED ARR ON AN ICY RWY. BECAUSE; HOWEVER; THE ENVIRONMENT AT ACR IS INTIMIDATING TOWARDS PLTS; I FAILED TO RAISE THESE CONCERNS WITH CAPT. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT ACR'S INTERPS OF FARS AND ABOUT THE ATTITUDE OF SUING PLTS FOR RAISING SAFETY CONCERNS. THIS ENVIRONMENT IS UNSAFE.
