B757 PIC SET UP THE WRONG MIA ILS FREQ; ALERTED BY ATC AND CONTINUES APCH FOR RWY 9.

Narrative

FLEW ALL-NIGHTER FROM SFO TO MIA. UPON LEVELOFF IN CRUISE; I SET UP THE RADIOS FOR ANTICIPATED APCH INTO MIA. I MUST HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT THE BACK SIDE OF THE PLATE AND SET THE FREQ FOR THE PARALLEL RWY. 5 HRS LATER; FEELING A BIT GROGGY IN THE DSCNT AND EXPECTING A VISUAL APCH; I NEGLECTED DOING SOMETHING I ALWAYS DO; WHICH IS TO BRIEF THE ILS AS A BACKUP. THUS; I MISSED SETTING THE WRONG FREQ. CLRED TO INTERCEPT RWY 9L; I WAS ON DSCNT PROFILE BUT FAST; SO I WAS CONCENTRATING ON DECELERATING AS I NOTED WE WERE FLYING THROUGH FINAL ON THE MISSED APCH; BUT NOT INTERCEPTING THE LOC. AS I BEGAN TO FEEL UNEASY ABOUT IT; WE INTERCEPTED THE LOC AND GOT FIELD IN SIGHT. TWR INFORMED US WE WERE CLRED FOR RWY 9L AND LINED UP FOR RWY 9R; AND RECLRED US FOR RWY 9R. THEY SAID IT WAS NO PROB; BUT SOUNDED A BIT DISGUSTED WITH US. I AM EMBARRASSED AND CHAGRINED AND HAVE NO EXCUSE -- I JUST SCREWED UP BIG TIME. I FEEL VERY FORTUNATE THERE WERE NO OTHER ACFT ARRIVING AT THE SAME TIME. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 500280: THE CAPT WAS FLYING AND ENTERED THE RWY 9L INFO IN THE FMS AND I THOUGHT THE ILS TUNER. DURING A BREAK IN THE DSCNT AND BEFORE LNDG CHKS; ABOUT 35 MI FROM THE FIELD; I ATTEMPTED TO IDENT THE LOC. I HEARD 2 VERY FAINT MORSE CODES; NEITHER MATCHED RWY 9L. HDG FOR A FAMILIAR FIELD AND EXPECTING VMC SHORTLY; I CONTINUED WITH THE CHKLISTS. AS WE CROSSED COPRA AND THE FMS CAPTURED THE LOC; I REATTEMPTED TO IDENT THE LOC SIGNAL. WHEN I GOT THE CODE; I REALIZED IT WAS NOT THE CODE FOR RWY 9L; AND REACHED FOR MY APCH PLATE AND TOLD THE CAPT THE IDENT WAS NOT CORRECT. WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING; WE BROKE OUT OF THE WX AND THE TWR SAID 'SINCE YOU ARE HDG FOR RWY 9R; YOU ARE NOW CLRED TO LAND RWY 9R.
