A CANADAIR CL65 IN CRUISE AT FL310 DIVERTED DUE TO APU LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING AND #2 GENERATOR PREVIOUSLY DISCONNECTED.
Narrative
CLBING OUT OF 1500 FT; GENERATOR #2 CAUTION MESSAGE CAME ON. FOLLOWED QRH -- RESET GENERATOR #2 WOULD NOT RESET. TURNED GENERATOR #2 OFF. APU WAS ON; CONTINUED RUNNING. AT FL310; APU OIL PRESSURE CAUTION MESSAGE CAME ON. RAN QRH PROCS AND WAS INFORMED TO DIVERT INTO MYR AND DIVERTED. MAINT CAME OUT AND CHKED THE APU OIL. THERE WAS A LITTLE OIL ON THE CHK STICK AND FOUND A TRACE WHICH REALLY SURPRISED HIM; SINCE HE SAID IF ANY REGISTERS AT ALL NO SENSOR WOULD BE EFFECTED. SINCE WE WERE DOWN TO 1 GENERATOR AND THE APU; AND AFTER TOUCHDOWN THE APU WOULD SHUT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY WITH THESE ELECTRIC AIRPLANES; THAT THERE NEEDS TO BE REDUNDANCY. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE #2 AC GENERATOR FAILED SHORTLY AFTER TKOF AND THE #2 BUS WAS PWRED BY APU GENERATOR. THE RPTR SAID WHEN THE APU LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED; IT LOOKED LIKE THEY WOULD BE DOWN TO 1 GENERATOR. THE RPTR STATED THE APU UNIT WITH LOW OIL PRESSURE OR LOW OIL QUANTITY WILL NOT AUTO SHUTDOWN WITH LOW LEVELS IN FLT ONLY ON LNDG. THE RPTR SAID WHEN THE OIL WAS CHKED ON THE GND; ONLY A SMALL TRACE OF OIL WAS ON THE STICK. THE RPTR STATED THE FIX FOR THE #2 GENERATOR WAS NOT KNOWN AS MAINT DOES NOT ADVISE THE FLC UNLESS REQUESTED. THE RPTR SAID THE ELECTRICAL SYS ON THE CL65 IS A RELIABLE SYS WITH LITTLE OR NO TROUBLE.
