Synopsis

A B727-200 ON TAXI OUT CABIN ATTENDANT RPTED SVC DOOR 2R NOISY. RETURNED TO THE GATE AND ON INSPECTION FOUND DOOR FALSE LATCHED.

Narrative

DURING TAXI OUT; AFT FLT ATTENDANT RPTED THAT DOOR 2R HAD LOUD ENG AND AIR NOISE AND DID NOT SOUND NORMAL. ALL INDICATIONS IN COCKPIT WERE NORMAL FOR DOORS; ENGS AND PRESSURIZATION. AFTER MORE PERSISTENCE FROM FLT ATTENDANT CREW THAT IT DID NOT SOUND NORMAL AT DOOR 2R; THE SO WENT BACK TO LOOK AT DOOR 2R. HE RPTED THAT IT SOUNDED A LITTLE LOUDER THAN NORMAL; BUT THE DOOR WAS SEALED AND CLOSED. THE FLT ATTENDANT INSISTED THAT HE OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR BEFORE WE COULD CONTINUE. AFTER ATTEMPTING TO RESEAL THE DOOR; THE FLT ATTENDANT RPTED THAT THERE WAS NOW DAYLIGHT SHINING THROUGH THE SEAL ON THE DOOR. WE SUSPECTED A FALSE LATCH CONDITION AND RETURNED TO THE GATE. UPON RETURN TO GATE; I OPENED AND CLOSED THE DOOR AND THE SEAL APPEARED TO BE NORMAL WHEN INSPECTED FROM BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE ACFT. AFTER DISCUSSION WITH DISPATCH AND MAINT; IT WAS AGREED THAT THE FALSE LATCH CONDITION WAS CURED AND WE COULD CONTINUE THE FLT. ONE FLT ATTENDANT REFUSED TO WORK THE FLT UNLESS A MECH LOOKED AT THE DOOR. A MECH CAME TO ACFT AND VERIFIED THAT THE DOOR WAS CLOSED AND SEALED. THE RESUMPTION OF THE FLT AND CONTINUATION WAS UNEVENTFUL.
