A CANADAIR CL65 ON APCH AT 900 FT UPON SELECTION OF 45 DEGS FLAPS ACFT BEGAN AN UNCOMMANDED ROLL TO THE L. SECOND RPT.
Narrative
ON APCH INTO ZZZ UPON SELECTION OF FLAPS 45 DEGS FOR LNDG; ACFT BEGAN TO ROLL TO THE L. I USED 1 FULL UNIT OF R AILERON TRIM; AND R AILERON TO STABILIZE ACFT. WE HAD LIGHT TO MODERATE RIME ICE ON ACFT WHICH WE IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ACCUMULATE AT THE TOPS OF THE OVCST AT 5000 FT AGL. THE WING AND COWL ANTI-ICE WERE PREVIOUSLY SELECTED AND INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL. THE WINDS WERE FROM 220 DEGS AT 20 KTS AND GUSTING. ACFT WAS LANDED SAFELY. THERE WERE NO ABNORMAL CAUTION MESSAGES AND THE FLT CTL SYNOPTIC PAGE INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL DURING THE EVENT. WE HAD RECEIVED THE ACFT FROM MAINT WITH THE SAME PROB FROM A PREVIOUS CREW. MAINT PERFORMED AN INSPECTION OF THE FLAPS AND OPERATED FLAPS WITH NO DISCREPANCIES NOTED. WE WERE MADE AWARE OF PREVIOUS PROB WITH THE ACFT FROM READING THE PREVIOUS WRITE-UP IN MAINT LOGBOOK. WITH THIS IN MIND; I BRIEFED THE FO THAT I WOULD TURN THE AUTOPLT OFF BEFORE SELECTION OF FLAPS 45 DEGS ON APCH. WE EXECUTED A NORMAL APCH WITH THE PROPER FLAP SCHEDULE AND BROKE OUT OF THE OVCST AT 900 FT GAL. I CALLED FOR FLAPS 45 DEGS WITH THE AUTOPLT OFF AND IMMEDIATELY CORRECTED THE L ROLLING TENDENCY OF THE ACFT AS PREVIOUSLY NOTED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED MAINT CORRECTED THE UNCOMMANDED ROLL AT FLAPS 45 DEGS WITH THE RIGGING OF THE AILERONS. THE RPTR SAID THE AIRPLANE WAS RETURNED TO SVC WITH NO FURTHER RPTS.
