Narrative
AS WE TAXIED ALONG TXWY E TOWARD RWY 15/33 ON THE NE SIDE OF CHS; WE PASSED TXWY J AND THEN CROSSED A SET OF ILS HOLD LINES WHICH WERE FLANKED BY RED SIGNS HAVING A WHITE CAT II ON THEM. THEN WE ENCOUNTERED THE ACTUAL RWY HOLD SHORT YELLOW LINES; BUT THERE WERE NO SIGNS AT ALL FLANKING THEM WHERE YOU WOULD NORMALLY SEE THE RED SIGNS WITH WHITE RWY NUMBERS ON THEM. THERE WERE ALSO NO YELLOW WIG-WAG LIGHTS; JUST THE YELLOW LINE. WHEN I CALLED THE TWR AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE LACK OF SIGNAGE; THE CTLR SAID THAT THE MIL WAS IN CHARGE OF MAINTAINING THE ARPT AND THAT SIGNS WERE MISSING ALL OVER THE PLACE. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: A CHS TWR SPECIALIST STATED THAT THE MIL OWNS THE ARPT PROPERTY AND CTLS MOST OF ITS AREA; INCLUDING THE W RAMP AND TXWYS. ACR X AND THE MIL RAMP ARE NORMALLY NON MOVEMENT AREAS. THIS AREA (THE W SIDE) WAS RPTED BY THE SPECIALIST TO BE LACKING IN PROPER SIGNAGE. TXWYS A; B; C; E; AND G (THE E SIDE) ARE CTLED BY THE 'CHARLESTON COUNTY AVIATION AUTH' AND DISPLAY PROPER SIGNS AND MARKINGS.
