B757-200 CREW HAD A NOSE GEAR THAT DID NOT INDICATE DOWN AND LOCKED.
Narrative
NOSE GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND. ON APCH TO ZZZ; WE RECEIVED AN UNSAFE INDICATION ON THE NOSE GEAR ('GEAR DISAGREEMENT' ON EICAS AND AMBER 'GEAR' LIGHT AND 'LNDG GEAR MONITOR' STATUS MESSAGE). WE EXECUTED A GAR AND ACCOMPLISHED THE APPROPRIATE CHKLISTS; NONE OF WHICH RESULTED IN A SAFE GEAR INDICATION. WE DECLARED AN EMER. WE CONTACTED OPS WHO GAVE US A PHONE PATCH TO DISPATCH AND MAINT CTLR. WHILE CONSULTING MAINT CTLR; WE EXECUTED A LOW APCH TO ALLOW MAINT TO VISUALLY CHK THE GEAR. THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE GEAR WAS DOWN AND LOCKED; AND WITH CONCURRENCE OF MAINT CTL WE DETERMINED THE INDICATION TO BE AT FAULT. DISPATCH ARRANGED TO HAVE CFR EQUIP AND MAINT PERSONNEL MEET US UPON LNDG. WE LANDED AT ZZZ USING APPROPRIATE EMER PROCS AND HADE THE NOSE GEAR PINNED ON THE RWY. WE THEN TAXIED TO THE GATE. MAINT INFORMED US THAT ONE OF THE NOSE LNDG GEAR LIGHTS WAS BROKEN AND THAT PARTS OF THE LIGHT DAMAGED THE SENSORS FOR THE POS INDICATORS. WE WERE UNAWARE AT ANY TIME INFLT THAT THE ACFT HAD SUSTAINED ANY SORT OF DAMAGE. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 551498: AFTER LNDG; THE NOSE GEAR PIN WAS HAMMERED IN PLACE WHILE STILL ON THE RWY. WE WERE INFORMED THAT A PORTION OF THE LNDG LIGHT ASSEMBLY ATTACHED TO THE NOSE GEAR STRUT CAME APART AND DESTROYED PART OF THE NOSE GEAR INDICATING SYS.
