AFTER LNDG AT ATL; A CL65 CREW HAS A NEAR COLLISION WITH A FAST TAXIING B737.
Narrative
CL65 LANDED ON RWY 8L IN ATL; EXITED THE RWY AND WAS SLOWLY TAXIING ON TXWY B TOWARD TXWY D. WE WERE CLRED TO EXPEDITE TAXI AND CROSS RWY 8R ON TXWY D BY THE TWR AND TO CONTINUE TAXI TO TXWY F. AS WE ROLLED ACROSS RWY 8R; WE LOOKED L AND R FOR TFC SEEING NONE. THE LOGO LIGHTS; BEACON; NAV LIGHTS; STROBE LIGHTS AND RECOGNITION/TAXI LIGHTS WERE ALL ON. WE CROSSED RWY 8R ON TXWY D; SWITCHED TO GND CTL FREQ AND HEARD A VOICE SAY; 'ACFT XING TXWY D; STOP.' WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED. THEN OUT OF DARKNESS; A LNDG LIGHT BEAMED ON MY L. IT WAS ATTACHED TO THE NOSE GEAR OF A B737. NO CONTACT WAS MADE BTWN THE 2 ACFT. B737 WAS ON TXWY E (WITH THE INTENTION OF XING TXWY D TO CONTINUE TAXI ON TXWY E; I SUPPOSE). LATER; I CALLED GND CTL ON THE TELEPHONE. THE CTLR SAID AND I QUOTE; 'YOU WERE NOT AT FAULT.' 'THE B737 AIRPLANE WAS TAXIING AT AN EXCESSIVE SPD;' AND THAT THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH HIM. I HAD ALL REQUIRED LIGHTS ON FOR TAXIING ACROSS AN ACTIVE RWY; PLUS EXTRA LIGHTS. WHY B737 ALMOST RAMMED ME FROM THE SIDE; I DON'T KNOW; BECAUSE I HAD ALL THESE LIGHTS ON. I LOOKED TO MY L AND SAW NO ACFT; OR ACFT LIGHTS. PLTS NEED TO USE WHAT LIGHTS THEY HAVE AT THEIR DISPOSAL. (THERE HAVE BEEN MANY TIMES WHEN I HAVE SEEN MANY MAJOR AIRLINE CARRIERS WITH NO LOGO LIGHTS ON. WHY DO THEY DO THIS?). I FOLLOWED MY TAXI CLRNC AND COULD NOT SEE 737 IN THE DARKNESS.
