B757 CREW LNDG EGE XMITTED ON WRONG TWR FREQ AND LANDED WITHOUT CLRNC DUE TO ZDV WRONG FREQ ISSUANCE.
Narrative
I WAS FLYING INTO EGE ARPT AT VAIL; CO; FOR THE FIRST TIME DURING MY INITIAL SPECIAL ARPT QUALIFICATION WITH A B767 CHK AIRMAN. WX WAS VMC AT NIGHT IN MOUNTAINOUS TERRAIN. WE WERE CLRED BY ZDV TO FLY THE LOC/LDA/DME/FMS/RWY 25 APCH. I WAS THE PLT; FLYING FROM THE L SEAT. THE CHK AIRMAN WAS FLYING AS THE FO AND HANDLING COMS. ZDV INFORMED US THAT WE WERE THE 'LAST FLT TONIGHT.' WHILE CONTINUING TO FLY THE APCH PROC AND JUST PRIOR TO INTERCEPTING THE LOC; ZDV CLRED US TO CONTACT EGE TWR. BOTH THE CHK AIRMAN AND I UNDERSTOOD DEN TO SAY ON FREQ '18.2' THE CHARTED TWR FREQ IS 118.2. THERE WAS A NOTAM ON THE FLT PLAN THAT THE NEW TWR FREQ WAS 119.8 WITH 118.2 AS THE CTAF WHEN THE TWR IS CLOSED. WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT EGE TWR SEVERAL TIMES; BUT TO NO AVAIL. WE WERE THEN IN VISUAL CONTACT WITH THE RWY 25 AT APPROX 9 MI; WITH EXCELLENT VISIBILITY. ALL RWY CONDITIONS WERE OPEN AND DRY. WE ATTEMPTED TO RECONNECT WITH ZDV; BUT WERE APPARENTLY BELOW RADIO COVERAGE. WE ALSO MADE CONTACT WITH EGE OPS AND REQUESTED THEY CALL THE TWR FOR US. THEY RECEIVED NO ANSWER. WE THOUGHT THE TWR MAY BE CLOSED FOR THE NIGHT. WE CONTINUED TO BROADCAST ON THE 118.2 CTAF FREQ THROUGHOUT THE FINAL APCH AND LNDG. LNDG WAS NORMAL. UPON CLRING THE RWY; WE CALLED THE GND CTL FREQ AND RECEIVED A RESPONSE. THE GND CTLR CLRED US TO THE RAMP. WE EXPLAINED OUR DIFFICULTY IN CONTACTING THE TWR ON 118.2. THE CTLR REMINDED US THAT THE NEW TWR FREQ WAS 119.8 AND ASKED IF ZDV HAD GIVEN US '18.2;' AS THEY HAD DONE THAT BEFORE. DUE TO THE CONFUSION; THE CHK AIRMAN AND I FELT WE SHOULD FILE A RPT SO OTHER PLTS COULD ALSO BE MADE AWARE OF THESE CIRCUMSTANCES.
