Narrative
I HAVE NOT NEEDED TO LAND ON RWY 7 AT EGE IN ABOUT 4 YRS. FROM MY SIDE; I CANNOT SEE THE RWY UNTIL SHORT FINAL. WE FOLLOWED THE COMPANY VISUAL APCH PROC WHICH CALLS FOR A 30 DEG BANK. AS WE TURNED OUR FINAL DOGLEG TO FINAL; I WENT VISUAL ON THE RWY AND REALIZED WE HAD OVERSHOT A LITTLE. I SHOULD HAVE ANTICIPATED THE DISCOMFORT AN 'S-TURN' MIGHT CAUSE AND EXECUTED A GAR. INSTEAD; I ELECTED TO DO AN 'S-TURN' TO ALIGN UP PERFECTLY. AS WE WERE ALREADY IN THE DOGLEG TURN; I INCREASED MY BANK WHILE CONCENTRATING VISUALLY OUTSIDE ON THE RWY. THE FO INDICATED THAT I WAS BEYOND 30 DEGS OF BANK. BY THE TIME HE CALLED THAT OUT; WE WERE ALREADY RETURNING TO WINGS LEVEL. I GLANCED INSIDE WHILE PASSING WINGS LEVEL AND DECIDED TO KEEP MY NEXT BANK MORE SHALLOW AND RETURNED TO OUTSIDE REF. THE FO CALLED THAT I WAS BEYOND 30 DEGS OF BANK BY WHICH TIME WE WERE WELL ON THE WAY BACK TO WINGS LEVEL AND PERFECTLY LINED UP WITH RWY 7. WE CONTINUED TO AN EXCELLENT; SMOOTH; PERFECT LNDG. MY FO NEVER CALLED GAR. I WISH I HAD TAKEN IT AROUND BEFORE THE 'S-TURN' AND WILL IF EVER WIDE IN THE FUTURE ON THIS UNIQUE APCH. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 590687: AFTER CONDUCTING THE VISUAL APCH TO RWY 7 AND HAVING TIME TO THINK ABOUT IT; A 'GAR' CALLOUT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE ON SHORT FINAL.
