A CANADAIR CRJ700 ON POST FLT INSPECTION WAS FOUND TO BE MISSING THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR DOOR AND FUSELAGE SIDE DAMAGE.
Narrative
DURING POST FLT FO NOTED R MAIN GEAR DOOR MISSING AND DAMAGE TO FUSELAGE SIDE. APCH AND LNDG NORMAL. NUMBER 2 FA HEARD A LOUD POP AFTER TOUCHDOWN. DISPATCH AND MAINT NOTIFIED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED THE FO AFTER MAKING A POST FLT INSPECTION RPTED THE R MAIN LNDG GEAR DOOR WAS MISSING AND THE R FUSELAGE SIDE WAS DAMAGED. THE RPTR SAID THE FA'S RPTED A LOUD POP JUST AFTER TOUCHDOWN. THE RPTR STATED THIS IS A REOCCURRING PROB ON THE CANADAIR CRJ 700 OF STRESS FRACTURES ON THE HINGES OF THE MAIN LNDG GEAR DOORS. THE RPTR SAID THIS IS NOT THE FIRST FAILURE OF THESE DOOR HINGES. THE RPTR STATED THE AIRPLANE WAS MAINT FERRIED UNPRESSURIZED TO A MAINT FACILITY FOR REPAIR. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 593633: DURING POST FLT I NOTED THAT THE R MAIN GEAR DOOR WAS MISSING AND DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE SIDE. THE FLT WAS NORMAL. THE NUMBER 2 FA NOTED A LOUD POP AFTER TOUCHDOWN. DISPATCH AND MAINT WERE NOTIFIED AND A FERRY WAS PLANNED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR FROM ACN 593633: THE RPTR STATED THERE IS NO DOOR WARNING ON THE LNDG GEAR DOORS AND THE DOOR MAY HAVE BEEN LOST OVER THE OUTER MARKER. THE RPTR SAID THE DOOR TO THIS DATE HAS NOT BEEN RECOVERED. THE RPTR STATED THE FUSELAGE DAMAGE WAS A DEEP GOUGE IN THE SKIN APPROX 9 IN TO 12 IN IN LENGTH. THE RPTR SAID IN TALKING TO TECHNICIANS FAMILIAR WITH THE HINGE STRESS FRACTURE PROB THEY RPT THE FRACTURE IS NOT VISIBLE AND IS BARELY DETECTABLE WITH X-RAY INSPECTION.
