250 MI W OF ZZZ; WE GOT A 'HYD Y RESERVOIR LO LEVEL' ECAM. THERE WERE 2 BLUE TO-DO ITEMS LISTED BELOW. 'PTU OFF' AND 'YELLOW ENG #2 PUMP OFF.' WE COMPLIED AND GOT ANOTHER ECAM; 'HYD Y ENG PUMP LO PR.' BELOW THAT IT SAID 'Y SYS LO PR.' NO TO DO ITEMS WERE LISTED. WE CYCLED THROUGH THE SYS PAGES UNTIL WE GOT THE STATUS PAGE WHICH SHOWED WHAT APPEARS ON THE BOTTOM OF FM PAGE 7-123. WE DID NOT DECLARE AN EMER; BUT WE DID HAVE THE TWR ROLL THE EQUIP. WE SPOKE TO DISPATCH AND MAINT AND; AFTER THE FO AND I DISCUSSED IT; WE DECIDED NOT TO DO THE ITEMS ON THE STATUS PAGE BECAUSE WE FELT IT WOULD RESULT IN US BLOWING OUT THE REST OF THE YELLOW SYS QUANTITY AND WE WOULD BE DEALING WITH ANOTHER ECAM ON SHORT APCH. NONE OF THE ECAM ANNUNCIATIONS WE GOT MATCH WHAT IS IN THE FM ON PAGES 7-123 AND 7-126 WHICH CONFUSED US A LOT. ALSO; ALTHOUGH I BELIEVE WE DID THE RIGHT THING; I STILL DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE 'NOT' COMPLETING AN ECAM. I SPOKE TO CAPT X AT ZZZ2 WHO SAID HE WOULD DO A FOLLOW UP; POSSIBLY IN A SIMULATOR.
