CARJ CREW HAD AN EICAS STATUS MESSAGE 'FLAP HALF SPD' ENRTE TO THEIR DEST. WHEN THE MESSAGE WOULD NOT CLR; THE CREW WAS ASKED TO FERRY THE ACFT TO SOMEWHERE IT COULD BE REPAIRED. THEY THEN LANDED AT THE NEAREST SUITABLE ARPT WHEN THEY WERE UNABLE TO CTL THE PITCH FORCES ON THE ACFT.

Narrative
HAD A FLAP HALF SPD STATUS MESSAGE APPEAR ENRTE TO PBI. IN PBI THE MECH PERFORMED A TEST ON THE SYS WHICH CAUSED MULTIPLE FLT CTL SYS STATUS MESSAGES TO APPEAR. HE TRIED TO CLR THE STATUS MESSAGES WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. MAINT CTL WANTED TO FERRY THE ACFT TO CVG. THE ACFT HAD ONE OF ITS DUAL SYS OPERATING. WHILE ON THE PHONE WITH MY PROGRAM MGR AND MAINT CTL; I WAS TOLD TO KEEP THE STABILIZER TRIM IN THE GREEN AND PUT THE AUTOPLT ON TO CLB TO THE UPPER FLT LEVELS. HAVING CONFIDENCE IN MY PROGRAM MGR; MY FO AND MYSELF AGREED. AFTER DEP HAD TO USE EXCESSIVE FORWARD PRESSURE TO FLY THE ACFT; CLBED TO FL370; CRUISED AT .82 MACH THEN SLOWED TO .74 MACH. CLBED TO FL410 BACK TO FL370 AND FINALLY FL310. AFTER TRYING DIFFERENT ALTS AND AIRSPDS; DECIDED TO TALK TO DISPATCH ABOUT THE PROB. AFTER WAITING FOR AN ANSWER; I TOLD THEM IT WAS BEST TO LAND THE ACFT. DISPATCH TOLD ME TO LAND AT MCO. BEING JUST W OF JAX; TOLD ATC THAT WE NEEDED TO LAND AT MCO. THE EXCESSIVE FORWARD PRESSURE WAS GONE WHEN FLAPS WERE SELECTED TO 8 DEGS. MADE A NORMAL LNDG IN MCO.
