B727 CREW INADVERTENTLY ENTERED A TXWY RESTR TO 60000 LBS.
Narrative
UPON CLRING RWY 14 AFTER LNDG AT SHV; THE TWR ISSUED THE FOLLOWING CLRNC: 'ONCE CLR OF THE ACTIVE; TAXI TO THE RAMP.' THE ENTIRE FLT CREW WAS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE FIELD. WE MADE A L TURN AND DECIDED TO TAXI TO THE RAMP VIA TXWY A AND TXWY D AS TXWY D LEAD STRAIGHT INTO THE RAMP AS DEPICTED ON THE CUSTOMIZED COMMERCIAL CHART PAGE. WHEN WE TURNED OFF OF TXWY A ONTO TXWY D; WE REALIZED AS THE TWR CALLED TO INQUIRE ABOUT OUR GROSS WT THAT THE SECTION OF TXWY D WE TURNED ONTO IS LIMITED TO ACFT WITH LESS THAN 60000 LBS GROSS WT. ALL 3 CREW MEMBERS MISSED THE NOTE ON THE 10-9 PAGE STATING SUCH. WE IMMEDIATELY STOPPED THE ACFT AND DID NOT HAVE ROOM TO TURN BACK TO TXWY A. EVEN THOUGH TWR TOLD US TO CONTINUE ON THE RESTR AREA OF TXWY D; WE DECIDED THAT WAS NOT PRUDENT AND WE CALLED THE COMPANY RAMP; ASKED THEM TO SEND A PUSHBACK CREW TO OUR ACFT; AND HAD THEM PUSH US OFF OF TXWY D BACK ONTO TXWY A. WE THEN COMPLETED OUR TAXI IN VIA TXWY A; RWY 5/23; AND THEN THE PORTION OF TXWY D STRESSED FOR OUR ACFT. WE WERE LED DOWN THIS PATH BY A NUMBER OF REASONS INCLUDING BEING GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS FROM TWR TO 'JUST TAXI TO THE RAMP' BY NOT BEING FAMILIAR WITH THE FIELD; BY NOTICING THE RAMP ENTRANCE IS VIA TXWY D; AND BY MISSING THE NOTE ON THE 10-9 REGARDING THE WT RESTR ON PART OF TXWY D. I WILL DEFINITELY LOOK AT MY 10-9 MORE CLOSELY IN THE FUTURE; ESPECIALLY WHEN NOT GIVEN SPECIFIC ROUTING INSTRUCTIONS; AND ENSURE THE CREW BACKS ME UP. IT WOULD ALSO BE ADVISABLE WHEN GOING TO AN UNFAMILIAR FIELD TO ASK FOR SPECIFIC ROUTING WHEN GIVEN TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. THERE WAS NO CONTACT WITH TWR AFTER WE GOT TO THE RAMP.
