Narrative
DURING TKOF; L GENERATOR TRIPPED OFFLINE AND WE RECEIVED ALL THE ASSOCIATED WARNINGS. ABORTED TKOF BELOW 60 KTS; CLRED RWY AND CALLED MAINT TO ADDRESS PROB. PER MAINT INSTRUCTION; GENERATOR WAS RESET SUCCESSFULLY AND WE CONTINUED OUT FOR TKOF. MAINT REQUESTED THAT AN ENGINEERING NOTE BE ENTERED IN THE LOGBOOK ABOUT THE RESET. DURING NEXT TKOF; GENERATOR TRIPPED AGAIN AND TKOF WAS ABORTED; AGAIN BELOW 60 KTS. RECONTACTED MAINT; WHO SENT US THE PLACARD INFO FOR DEFERRAL OVER ACARS. WE WERE IN THE PROCESS OF COMPLYING WITH THE STEPS FOR DEFERRAL WHILE TALKING WITH MAINT; WHEN THE PURSER NOTIFIED ME THAT A PAX 'WITH A HEART CONDITION' NEEDED TO GET OFF THE FLT. RATHER THAN CONTINUING THE DEFERRAL PROCESS AND CONTINUING TO SFO; I DECIDED THAT IN THE INTEREST OF THIS PAX'S SAFETY; WE SHOULD RETURN TO THE GATE. EVEN THOUGH THE DEFERRAL WAS ALMOST COMPLETE; WE ALSO DECIDED IT WOULD BE PRUDENT TO HAVE MAINT FINISH DEALING WITH THE PROB AND TO GET ADDITIONAL FUEL. MAINT DISCONNECTED IDG; PAX WAS DEPLANED; GENERATOR WAS DEFERRED; AND WE CONTINUED UNEVENTFULLY TO DEST.
