A B757-200 FLT CREW EXPERIENCE VHF RADIO COM PROBS DEPARTING SFO.

Narrative

ALL RADIO COM WAS LOST SHORTLY AFTER TKOF. IN ACCORDANCE WITH FAR'S; WE CONTINUED TO ATTEMPT TO CONTACT ATC AND PROCEEDED ON COURSE SQUAWKING XPONDER CODE 7600. CONTACT WAS ESTABLISHED WITH DISPATCH VIA ACARS DATA LINK. INTERMITTENT CONTACT WAS MADE VIA VHF WITH OTHER ACFT AND ATC; HOWEVER; THEY CONTINUED TO RPT OUR MIKES WERE STUCK ON EVERY FREQ WE ATTEMPTED TO USE. VHF CONTACT WAS IMPOSSIBLE AT THIS POINT. CONTACT WAS ESTABLISHED WITH MAINT VIA ACARS DATA LINK. THEY BEGAN A LENGTHY TROUBLESHOOTING DIALOG WITH US VIA ACARS. AT XA20Z; MAINT ADVISED THAT PULLING CIRCUIT BREAKERS MIGHT SOLVE OUR PROB. I ELECTED TO COMPLY WITH THEIR REQUEST AND OPENED THOSE CIRCUIT BREAKERS. WE LOST ALL COM CAPABILITY ON THE FO'S SIDE OF THE COCKPIT AS WELL AS THE OBSERVER'S POS. CAPT WAS ABLE TO ESTABLISH VHF CONTACT WITH ATC APPROX XA40Z. MAINTINED CONTINUOUS CONTACT WITH ZDV AND BEYOND. APPROX XB20Z; ATC ASSIGNED DISCRETE XPONDER SQUAWK TO RELIEVE US OF THE 7600 CODE. MAINT VERIFIED OUR CONDITION AT XB19Z AND IN CONFERENCE WITH DISPATCH; WE ALL AGREED THE WX CONDITIONS WOULD CONTINUE TO BE VFR ALONG OUR RTE AS WELL AS AT OUR DEST. THE DECISION WAS MADE TO CONTINUE TO EWR AND ADVISE ATC OF OUR INTENTIONS AS WELL AS ESTABLISH A CONTINGENCY PLAN SHOULD WE LOSE THE VHF COM PRIOR TO LNDG. FLT CONTINUED UNEVENTFULLY TO EWR.
